PostsHere Henry will be tasked with winning a blacksmithing competition. It is worth noting that you can get a couple of hundred Groschen and a mediocre sword by competing in this quest. Here, we will guide you on how to complete this quest easily.
How To Start The Hammer And Tongs Quest
You can start by speaking to Blacksmith Zdminir, who is located in Grund in the Kuttenberg Region.
Grund is east of the Devil's Den, so follow the road and go straight. Once you are on a wooden platform, take a left. Then, follow the pathway that curves a little to the right, and shortly, you will notice the blacksmith on your left.
Talk to him and enter the competition. Zdimir will provide you with two steel and one scrap metal. So simply forge the competition sword.
You won't be able to start this quest unless you have completed Speak of the Devil first. We also found ourselves unable to initiate Hammer and Tongs after completing the Oratores quest, so bear this in mind when deciding when to visit.
How To Complete The Hammer And Tongs Quest
Start blacksmithing by interacting with the anvil, and make sure tochoose the competition sword. First, you need tomake sure the workpiece turns orangeat the forge. If you heat it for too long, don't worry.Henry will tell you that you are burning it.
After that, move your workpiece to the anvil and start hammering it evenly. Henry will again tell you if you are not doing the right job. After that, rotate and hammer the other side.
Repeat this process until the blacksmithing is completed.
When we forged the sword, our craftsmanship level was level 8, and correctly doing the job resulted in a level three competition sword.
Your sword needs to be at least level three if you want to beat Matthias. This doesn't require much skill.
After you have forged the sword, talk to Zdminir again and tell him the weapon is ready. If your sword is level three, he will be thoroughly impressed by you during a cutscene. However, if you lose, you will part with 100 Groschen and, of course, the sword you forge.
Rewards
Once you are victorious in the competition, you will receive 200 Groschen. During the cutscene, Henry will ask Matthias for his sword, but he won't comply and will instead want to fight. You can either pass a skill check, or you can fight him.
This fight can be completely ignored by choosing the third option, but if you want his sword, fighting is necessary.
He isn't that skilled of a fighter, so you won't have much trouble fighting him. Defeat him by performing the normal combos, and he will surrender. Then simply talk to him, and he will give you his sword.
The sword's main stat is 62 and can be sold to the same blacksmith for 8.1 Groschen.
