Kakeashi Grove is when Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess begins to open up in complexity, giving you new tools, as well as new enemies. The main issue will be the introduction of flying enemies that can daze your villagers and go over barriers. If the previous stage didn't break your action-game habits of trying to fend off all the enemies with just Soh, this will.

You'll have to make strategic decisions mid-battle and change positions and roles as necessary to succeed through both halves of this map, though thankfully it'll give you plenty of healing items and advantageous geography to ensure your victory.

Stage Overview

New Enemies

Shibakaki, Hitaban

Number Of Villagers

4

Purification Rewards

Rikugo's Vigor Tsuba Guard, Demon Seat Talisman

Bonus Challenges

  • Don't use any rations
  • Assign villagers three or more roles
  • Destroy all 15 pots

This map introduces you to barriers, repairs, and aerial enemies. It's going to require more strategy and more reliance on the villagers, as Soh cannot easily handle multiple flying enemies.

You'll want to be careful where you tell Yoshiro to finish for the night, and stop her behind a barrier if she won't reach the end of the path before nightfall.

For the bonus challenges, you obviously don't have three roles to assign at this point, but it's also better to wait to try and destroy all pots until you replay it, because then the game will keep track of your progress.

How To Clear The First Half Of Kakeashi Grove

This map is divided into two sections by a Torii Gate, so you'll have to clear the immediate area before you can move on and finish the stage.

All Purge Locations In The First Half Of Kakeashi Grove

Red X's are areas where you can purge something, the blue dots are pots you can break.

In the first section, you'll have eight spots to purge. Purge the area first so you can carve the spirit path as quickly as possible.

You can attack defiled animals for rations, but don't make that a priority.

From the entrance facing the Torii gate:

  • Purge the area immediately in front of you.
  • Go down to the villager at the bottom of the stairs.
  • There's one area to purge to the right of the steps as you go back up, and then another to your left.
  • Loop around past the Torii gate and purge the spot right next to it.
  • Climb the ledge and purge a spot in the back corner.
  • Purge the spot at the top of the stairs.
  • Go up the broken wooden ledge and purge the last spot.

From there, carve the spirit path back to the shrine where you can collect your rewards.

How To Prepare Your Defenses

You'll have three villagers to use for this section. Here's our recommended setup:

  • Make two of them Woodcutters.
  • Position one in the middle of the lower path.
  • Put the other in the path about halfway between the gate and the barrier.

You won't have enough crystals for the third villager at first, so place them on the ledge and leave them for later. Make sure Yoshiro stops behind the barrier, then use the rest of your time to either grab rations from the animals or break the pots.

There are five pots in this section. Four are along the path to the gate and then a fifth is in a side path off the bottom area.

How To Fight Off The Seethe

During the night, you'll face the Shibakaki, which have slightly more health than the Gaki and can make ranged attacks. You'll want to get rid of them before they get close enough to reach Yoshiro, so prioritize taking them out with Soh.

Once you have 50 crystals, go up to your remaining villager and make them an archer. They can attack from their spot on the ledge.

After this wave, Yoshiro should be able to reach the first gate and purify it.

How To Clear The Second Half Of Kakeashi Grove

You'll need to work quickly before the next wave of Seethe shows up.

  • First, head up the ledge and have two of your villagers work on removing the barrier to the shrine. This will take time, so they might not finish by the time the Seethe attack.
  • Then, head to the furthest barrier and ask the carpenter to repair it. To your left, there will be a villager. Purge them and make them an archer.
  • Place one of your archers in the ranged area and one near Yoshiro, and your two wood cutters on either side of the barrier.

If you still have time you can start purging the area. There's one spot to the west of the house where the villager was located, and one up the Eastern path where you can see several animals gathered.

Next, go for the purge spot a little to the right of the barrier when you're facing the Torii Gate. The final three spots are all along the lower path.

If you choose to start Yoshiro along the Spirit Path, make sure you stop her about halfway through.

The next wave of enemies will introduce the Hitoban, tiny flying arms that can go over barriers. This is why you want your archers near Yoshiro, as it's likely that the Hitoban will get near her while you're focused on ground enemies.

While Soh has an aerial attack that can hit the Hitoban, it's less efficient than having archers take care of most of them.

One option if you have the crystals is to reclass your woodcutters into archers as well, and leave them in the same place. Then you only have to focus on ground enemies.

After this wave, have the carpenter repair the barrier and then finish purging if you haven't. Go grab the talisman from the shrine and equip it immediately to give your villagers slightly more health.

Have Yoshiro move along the path. If she can't make it before nightfall have her stop behind the barrier in the center of the map.

From there, you have free reign to destroy the last ten pots.

  • One is next to the shrine.
  • One is on the ledge where you placed your archer.
  • One is in the corner between the ledge and the destroyed house.
  • Three are east of the house.
  • The final three pots of the map are all on the lower path, one by itself and two together a little bit further away.
  • The final pot is next to the shrine your villagers will have finished uncovering by now.

This next wave will be the same as the first, so protect Yoshiro and have her finish the next day.
