Kunitsu-Gami: Path Of The Goddess - Mukadejoro Boss Battle Guide

Kunitsu-Gami: The Path of the Goddess isn't the hardest game you'll ever play, but the Mukadejoro is more than capable of putting up a pretty decent challenge, especially since you fight this mult-legged monstrosity so early in the game. When it isn't running circles around you (literally), it'll be taking swipes at you from above.

PostsLucky for you, we've got the strategies you'll need to crush this caterpillar and end its reign of terror. This guide will help you prepare for the fight, give you advice on how to position your villagers, and help you choose your loadout.
Pre-Combat Setup
At this point in the game, you will have three classes available to you: The Woodcutter, Archer, and the Ascetic. This battle is best fought by utilizing a crew of Archers. For most of the battle, you will want them to be positioned directly in front of Yoshiro. Having an Asectic isn't a terrible idea either. Their ability to stop time will help you land more of those big hits. They aren't make or break either way.
After purifying the gate, but before you cross the threshold in the center of the stage, send each of your troops to stand next to a lantern. Once the battle begins, circle the room, hitting each lantern as you do, and instructing the troop you placed next to each one to light them. Mukadejoro's weak points are only revealed in the light, so lighting every lantern will make damaging this monstrosity far easier.
You will have little in the way of talismans available when you first encounter the Mukadejoro, but you should have the Demon Seat and Leaping Fish, which will at least enhance Soh's HP and the HP of your Villagers.
The Mukadejoro Boss Battle
As we stated in the pre-combat section, you'll start the battle by lighting the lanterns all around the arena. This will cause sacks along the length of its body to periodically engorge. However, only aim for these if they are the only available target, the Mukadejoro's tongue should still be your focus. Look to land your special attack early. That way you can use it again later in the battle.
Positioning in this battle is key. You are lucky in that the Mukadejoro will focus on Soh as long as they are alive, at least. If you are looking to win by any means necessary, and you aren't concerned about time, you can just fight the Mukadejoro on the other end of the arena, and leave your troops to protect Yoshiro. However, if you are looking to win sooner rather than later, fighting the Mukadejoro near enough to your archers so that they can potshot the massive centipede will be an effective strategy. Just make sure you don't lead Mukadejoro to Yoshiro.
CloseWhen the symbol appears above the Mukadejoro's head, they are about to charge at you. They will do so while circling you. The trick here is to stick as close to their body without touching it. Chasing its tail, while sticking pretty close to its body, will keep you out of its reach. This is the Mukadejoro's primary attack, so get used to chasing that tail.
If the Mukadejoro lets out a giant roar, it is summoning Jimushi (little demonic worms) to attack Yoshiro. When this happens, make sure all your troops are defending her to shoot the Jimushi down before they can swarm her. Your villagers should be enough to fend them off, so keep on the Mukadejoro with Soh.
As it is summoning the Jimushi, the Mukadejoro's mouth will be open, leaving it vulnerable to be attacked.
Finally, the Mukadejoro will climb the walls and scale the ceiling. When it is on the ceiling, it will lunge at you from above. If you keep moving, it won't hit you. Try to run in the area near enough to your archers that they can fire shots off at the creature while it is out of reach.
How To Beat The Mukadejoro In Under Three-Minutes
CloseSo, this is a brutal one, and as far as I can see, it just isn't something you are going to be able to do when you first encounter the Mukadejoro. I tried a bunch of different formations and combinations, but I could barely get the time under four minutes. So, we recommend you wait until you have powered up a little, and have unlocked Soh's skill tree. Especially the Worship ability which will give him the ability to power up and become invincible by using those Chozusha Basinsyou see conveniently located in every stage.
We'd still recommend you stick to a party of archers, but definitely upgrade them more. If you have the Marksman, you may be tempted to use them for their longer range and increased power, but we found that the increased rate of fire of the Archers still made them the better option.
In regard to which Mazo Talismans you should use, keep it simple and focus on Mazo Talismans that increase Soh's attack power. Preferably, not at the cost of your battalion's attack power.
