Thor Odinson and Jeff the Land Shark have been revealed as the next playable characters coming to Marvel Rivals, with both being added to the closed beta test on July 27.

Just a few days ago, Marvel Rivals kicked off its closed beta test for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, opening up the gates for a ton more players than the previous tests. So far, it seems like it's a big hit and has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon. While the closed beta is already packed with playable characters, it's about to get even bigger in just one day.

That's thanks to the surprise arrival of two new characters, who were revealed yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con. Those two characters are Thor Odinson and Jeff the Land Shark, who were confirmed through a new trailer that showed off their unique designs for the Marvel Rivals universe.

Jeff The Land Shark And Thor Are Coming To Marvel Rivals Tomorrow

Let's start off with the bigger surprise of the two new characters - Jeff the Land Shark. Although he's not made his MCU debut yet, Jeff is a very popular character in the Marvel comics, so it's a nice surprise to see him get into Marvel Rivals before more obvious picks like Wolverine or any of the Fantastic Four. Jeff was revealed in a short teaser showing him adorably singing a song and teasing his use of bubble powers.

Then there's Thor Odinson, who is more surprising since he wasn't in the game from the get-go. While Jeff looks as you'd expect him to, Thor's design is a bit more unique and shows him with way more armour than he's usually depicted in. An art book that was given out as SDCC confirms that Thor will be a Vanguard character, while Jeff the Land Shark will be a Strategist.

As great as it is to see Jeff and Thor confirmed for Marvel Rivals, it doesn't really come as much of a surprise considering they were both included in the leaked list of potential new characters. Seems like it was a pretty accurate leak.

Although you'd probably expect Jeff and Thor to launch alongside the game's final release, they're actually going to be playable much sooner than that, as they're being added to the closed beta test tomorrow, July 27. Of course, that's only helpful if you have access to the test, but even if you don't you'll at least get a good taste of how both characters play ahead of time.
