The Just Dance phenomenon continues with Just Dance 2023, and with its eclectic mix of various types and genres of music, it’s hard to pick where to start. Do you want to start easy and work your way up in difficulty? Or perhaps you’d just want to jump into the deep end of the game and see where it takes you?

Hopefully, this list will give you some ideas as to which songs you’d like to check out, or even avoid. If you are looking to take that leap, the songs below are a good jumping-off point into the harder end.

9 Telephone - Lady Gaga Ft. Beyoncé

This song is a bop, and will make you want to stay at the club way past closing time! Telephone is a moderately paced song with powerful dynamic moves that can make for a fun song to dance to.

Thing is, you'll have to have a certain sense of rhythm and athleticism to keep track. Or at the very least, knees that can stand up to all the crouching and bouncing you'll do during the chorus. If you think you can handle that, then you are all set up for a good time ignoring calls on your phone.

8 Wannabe - ITZY

If you are even vaguely familiar with the K-pop scene, then at the very least you have heard of the famous shoulder pump that premiered with ITZY's Wannabe single. It blew up as various K-pop idols and fans alike tried to imitate the move.

The move is here in Just Dance 2023 as well, albeit a simpler series of movements. No, what's truly hard in this song is the tight, intricate choreography that the group is known for, drops and body rolls included. Still, if you can manage to master the move, you'll be a winner in this song.

7 Love Me Land - Zara Larsson

The song starts deceptively slow. You think you're going to get a cute little bop you can vibe to, but things quickly pick up once the lyrics start. It's a little more intense, but nothing new to the series or anything you can't handle. Easy, right?

Then comes the chorus. That drop to the floor. Okay, still not too bad. Then comes the splits. Sure, you're lying on your back while doing them, but that could be harder to pull off and still look cool. This is a spicy track that will catch you slipping if you aren't on beat.

6 Rather Be - Clean Bandit Ft. Jess Glyne

Working with a vibe reminiscent of 90s dance music, this song will have you moving your entire body all over the place — hands and arms in the air, waving like you just don’t care. You’ll also be utilizing all the space in your living room with the wide and powerful steps of the choreography.

The song is frenetic and demanding, but you absorb it all into your body and release it in the form of your banging moves. Aside from two short breaks, you’ll be in constant motion the whole time, so you’d better come prepared with either a lot of stamina or a cold bottle of water.

5 Witch - Apache Ft. Alina Pash

If you aren’t careful, this witch will place you under her spell with her hypnotic moves. Well, that and her mind-control powers — have to watch out for those. Still, her dance alone is enough to enchant and entice you to join her.

Once you're under, you'll have to do your best to keep up with her light-on-her-feet ballet moves: from pointed toes and high kicks, to twirling and spinning to her rhythm. One false move, and you'll be trapped under her spell forever. Or at least until the song ends.

4 Evanescence - Bring Me To Life

This song falls under the category hardest for a different reason than the others on this list. It's slower and easier to hit all the moves, so why would it be here, of all places, instead of an easier list, or a fun one?

It's simple: it needs to be a duet. It can be played alone, but there's an element lost from the choreography when you're doing it solo; something that you can only bring out once you are angsting with your best bud or partner. In all seriousness, the choreography is surprisingly graceful and worth checking out alone.

3 Zooby Doo - Tigermonkey

It’s often the songs that sound easy that will give you the hardest time. Zooby Doo is a track that makes you feel like you don’t quite know what’s coming next in the choreography, and the visuals aren’t exactly working against this theory. The moves require a lot of jumping both in place and around your living room as you corral your dinosaur into place.

This isn’t the hardest part though. No, it’s the fact that the choreo expects you to have a suit on demand, so much so they’ve worked it into the choreo, complete with a fight scene. So if you aren’t rocking the latest prehistoric wear, then it’s just not going to be the same dance.

2 Watch Out For This - Major Lazer ft. Busy Signal

Man, those hips will be put to the test with this track. It’s all about twisting the torso and winding the hips right from the beginning all the way through to the end against the beats. You have to have those hips loosened and ready to go if you are going to hang.

Not to mention getting distracted by the visuals in the background, and not just the DJ llama, either. There are so many things going on back there while the dancers blissfully dance away, it’s a marvel people don’t get lost during the song. Yet somehow, it still fits the themes — well, as much as purple fire plants and giant llamas can fit the song, anyway.

1 Boy With Luv, Extreme Version - BTS

If you are taken in by the laid-back easiness of the song’s melody, you wouldn’t be alone in that sentiment. Boy With Luv is considered one of the group’s happier, softer songs, but that doesn’t mean you should take this song lightly — it’s pretty tricky.

There’s that shuffle move they do with their feet, sure, but with a few attempts or a little practice, you could knock it out. The real challenge here is the several jump kicks peppered through the chorus. Not sure when the last time you performed a jump kick was? Or if you've ever done one at all? Then you might want to be careful — your ankles will thank you.
