To many the simple cathartic concept of cleaning things with a big spray gun is incredibly pleasant, and it’s easy to see why. You’re presented with a massive mess, some high-powered equipment, and all the time in the world. Hours fly by and yet there’s still always something left to hose down. Throw in the occasional pop-culture crossover and it's easy to see why this game became so popular. For those still wondering is PowerWash Simulator VR Worth it? Here’s what you need to know.

PowerWash Simulator VR Reviews

Our Evergreen Editor Branden Lizardi was very complimentative about the game, praising its ability to bring enjoyment out of completing mundane tasks like washing grime off a playpark or car. An improvement to the game in VR is pointed out by Branden in that you can angle and hold the spray gun however you like. Which makes getting to those hard-to-hit areas much easier.

“It’s the epitome of ‘oddly satisfying’."

Some mild nitpicks about the fidelity handling rendering at a distance in VR, and the later lengthy levels being an issue with how much time is spent on them. But both of those are down to the processing and battery life limitations of the Meta Quest line of headsets which the VR game is unfortunately exclusive to.

But overall he’s nothing but positive when it comes to PowerWash Simulator VR and highly recommends it to those looking for a low-stakes, stress-free cleaning game to lose hours in.

Elsewhere the general community response to PowerWash Simulator VR has also been nothing but positive. For example, on the Meta Quest store it’s sitting at a four stars out of five. Whilst over on Metacritic the game has landed itself a respectable 80 from critics. If you like playing with Power Washers then this is the game for you.

How Long Does It Take To Beat PowerWash Simulator VR?

Good news for those looking for a timesink, PowerWash Simulator VR has quite the beefy stats when it comes to hours spent in the game. How Long To Beat has it at over 37 hours to beat the main content, 47 hours to wash all the side content and for that full finish completionist run it's a whopping 55 hours.

Now those stats are fairly impressive on their own, but don't forget there's a ton of side content being added with crossovers regularly. There's been over six so far and each of them is around three to four hours to finish, that's an extra 24 hours on top of the base game. So at PowerWash Simulator VR's current status, there's around 79 to 80 hours or more to finish everything.

In all honesty, 80 hours is if you're washing everything incredibly fast. In general, your average player is looking at over 100 hours or more to clean everything in the game before the next content drop.

What Does It Cost?

The expenditure for a VR headset aside, if you’re looking for a value-for-money game for that expensive bit of plastic then PowerWash Simulator VR should be at the top of your list. It’s a very affordable 25 dollars and considering the amount of mileage you can get out of that investment, it’s more than worth it.

Add on top of that the continued crossovers with big familiar franchises like Final Fantasy, Warhammer, Futurama, and Fortnite and you can see that the game is still very healthy. Plus, there’s also the option for multiplayer if you want to bring in some friends to chat whilst you wash. It’s a decent price to enjoy the relaxation the game provides for hour upon hour, so you’re getting a lot of content for your cash.

For our UK readers, it’s 19 pounds and 23 Euros for our European fans.

What Players Are Saying

Overall the general sentiment around PowerWash Simulator VR has been a generally positive one. Ever since the game exploded onto the scene it's carved out its own little cozy niche in the indie market. It's considered by many to be the best place to go if you want to simulate using high-pressure equipment on layers of grime and filth.

But don't just take my word for it, here's what the rest of the staff at TheGamer have thought about PowerWash Simulator VR. And like the rest, it's nothing but positive compliments for the game's simple gimmicks, its cathartic cleaning, and the generally enjoyable vibes you get whilst playing.

Best With A Podcast - Branden Lizardi - Evergreen Editor

PowerWash Simulator is already a super chill and satisfying game. And while the enhanced level of accuracy the motion controllers provide is fantastic, it can be a little low energy, especially since you can't exactly multi-task while wearing a headset. Combine it with that podcast or audiobook you've been meaning to catch up on, and this is absolutely worth your time. Just watch out for eye strain.

A Satisfying Fit For VR - Eric Switzer - Features Editor

Powerwash Simulator is such a perfect fit for VR that it's hard to imagine playing it any other way now. Spraying off the gunk and grime with your own hands is infinitely more satisfying and immersive. I find it impossible to stop playing before every job is 100 percent complete, even if I have to get on my hands and knees to find all the little nooks and crannies where dirt might be hiding

The Best Way To Play - Stacey Henley - Editor-In-Chief

Personally, I didn't see the appeal in PowerWash Simulator, even after trying it all the ways that were suggested - with a podcast, in silence to relax, or playing and chatting with friends. I'm still not entirely sure I understand its popularity, but having played the game in VR, it suddenly felt so much more satisfying to wash away every inch of grime. Whether you love the standard version or, like me, don't quite get it, the VR version is the ideal way to spray your suds.

So as you can see it's gotten a lot of positive compliments from the team and an overall positive reception from the Gaming Community as a whole. So whether you have a VR headset or not, PowerWash Simulator is a chill cozy time that comes highly recommended.
