Summary

  • Genshin Impact excels in combat complexity with unique Elemental Reactions and flashy Elemental Burst moves.
  • Infinity Nikki offers more side-content with cozy minigames and crafting options for clothes, providing a rewarding experience.
  • While Genshin Impact shines in storyline and combat, Infinity Nikki stands out with casual gameplay, exploration, visuals, and a less harsh monetization model.

Genshin Impact andInfinity Nikki are both live-service open-world RPG games, but both have built up on their unique gameplay mechanics. While one focuses on tough combat, the latter keeps things casual. However, that doesn't nearly determine the superiority of one game over the other.

Both games have great side-content. However, Infinity Nikki has a lot more minigames to try out. Exploration becomes a major factor for better gameplay in an open-world game, and both of them have incorporated some exciting features to keep the genre fresh and innovative.

7 Combat

Genshin Impact

Close

Genshin Impact has complex combat mechanics that require an understanding of Elemental Reactions that occur with all seven elements to deal great damage. Each character has a different set of abilities, and you can mix and match various teams to determine what works best. The five-star characters have flashy Elemental Burst moves that aren't just for show.

Compared to that, Infinity Nikki's combat felt very underwhelming, even for a cozy game. Combat isn't the focus of the game, but using a limited set of moves such as plunging and shooting purifying orbs becomes repetitive after a while. However, the game still does a better job with boss battles, and defeating them is a puzzle that you need to solve during the fight.

6 Exploration

Infinity Nikki

Exploration has always been one of the tedious aspects of Genshin Impact's gameplay. Granted that you can use some character's abilities to make it easier, but the game barely guides you on the locations of things that you are searching for in the open world. In Natlan, you can control Saurians but even that has certain limits.

Infinity Nikki's exploration is much more accessible, and you get to use certain ability outfits to make it even better. The ability outfits perform different tasks including Floating, Floral Guiding, and Bug-Catching. Momo helps you locate the Whimstars and you can also track the materials you need. You also get to ride a bicycle in Breezy Meadows area.

Genshin Impact has some excellent locations with amazing scenery inspired by real-life cultures. A few areas like Enkanomiya and The Chasm are breathtaking and are a visual treat to explore. The character designs in the game are also beautiful, especially for Kokomi, Arlecchino and Zhongli. If you want, you can also purchase cool outfits for Keqing, Ayaka, Diluc and many more.

Infinity Nikki stands equally with Genshin Impact in Visual Design. Some of the areas including the Wishing Woods and Florawish seem like something straight out of a fairytale. As a dress-up game, Infinity Nikki also presents some of the most pretty clothes and outfits seen in any video game.

4 Side Content

Infinity Nikki

Close

Infinity Nikki is a cozy open-world game, and it lives up to its name with many fun activities you can do across various towns in Miraland. You can play some minigames or participate in style battles across several factions. Crafting multiple clothes on the side is another engaging activity you will spend several hours doing.

Genshin Impact has a fair share of side-content as well, including completing domains and collecting chests. You also take part in hangout and character story quests. However, Genshin Impact lacks minigames as a part of permanent gameplay. However, we do see a variety of those in limited events.

3 Story

Genshin Impact

Close

Genshin Impact has an intricate lore that is scattered across in notes that you find while exploring. You will also get to meet several characters who add interesting bits to the main plot. The storyline feels like a journey as you venture across one nation into another in Teyvat and resolve various crises.

Infinity Nikki has some lore that complements the story as well. As a cozy game, it's a lot much more simplistic; however, things do take a darker turn as you progress. The game also does not add a lot of depth to various characters, which we wish the game explored much more.

2 Monetization

Infinity Nikki

Close

Genshin Impact has one of the harshest Monetization models, and the game itself doesn't reward you much. You barely get enough Primogems to get a guaranteed five-star character. Even if you do have enough, you might not get the event character you want because of a 50 percent chance.

Infinity Nikki on the other hand feels much more rewarding, and the Resonance system isn't as harsh. You won't get clothes from permanent banners in limited event banners. You are also guaranteed a five-star outfit piece every 20 draws. You can also obtain many clothes without spending money through crafting and exploring.

1 The Winner

Infinity Nikki

Close

Infinity Nikki is a unique game that has redefined standards for casual games. The open world is fun to explore as you try out multiple ability outfits. You will also spend many hours playing through the cozy minigames. The game also has a decent storyline and amazing visuals to keep you hooked.

That said, Genshin Impact takes the lead in storyline and combat. It has well-designed mechanics that require you to put some thought into team building. It's open-world takes you across many nations in Teyvat inspired by real-life cultures. However, the game is slightly lacking in causal activities to do, and its tedious exploration and harsh monetization model feel off-putting.
