Honkai: Star Rail has a beautifully designed turn-based combat system with a lot of detail that mostly comes from the sheer number of stats you can have. Each of these stats opens up a new play style, and HoYoverse is great at capitalizing on these play styles with the release of characters like Yunli.

If you're planning to upgrade Yunli in Honkai: Star Rail, you'll need to explore the world and farm these materials.

Posts

Yunli is a five-star Physical character following the path of Destruction, and she mostly relies on counter damage for her DPS. If you're planning to use this character in the endgame content, you'll need some specific items while building her gear.

Best Yunli Relics And Planar Ornaments

Yunli doesn't deal the highest damage you'll find in Honkai: Star Rail, so it's important to have the correct stat bonuses to make her viable:

Type

Name

Synergy With Yunli

Relics

The Wind-Soaring Valorous

This is the best in slot Relic set for Yunli as it not only gives her some extra ATK and Crit Rate, but also increases her Ultimate DMG whenever she triggers a follow-up attack, which is fairly common.

Champion Of Streetwise Boxing

If you're still early in the game, this set can be used as an alternative to get some extra Physical DMG and ATK.

Planar Ornaments

Inert Salsotto

In most situations, Inert Salsotto serves as the best set for Yunli when it comes to Planar Ornaments since it provides her with some Crit Rate alongside some Ultimate and follow-up DMG.

Duran, Dynasty Of Running Wolves

If you're using a full follow-up team with Yunli, you can also use this set to get a high DMG bonus and some free Crit DMG.

Yunli Relic Stats Priority

Choosing the correct main and sub-stats on your Relics and Planar Ornaments is equally as important as the set bonuses, if not more:

Type

Main Stat Priority

Sub Stat Priority

Head

HP

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Hands

ATK

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Body

Crit Rate > Crit DMG

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Feet

ATK Percent > SPD

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Planar Sphere

Physical DMG Bonus

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Link Rope

ATK Percent > Energy Regeneration Rate

Crit DMG/Rate > ATK Percent > SPD (optional)

Yunli doesn't need any SPD since she can get multiple free attacks just by getting attacked herself.

It's more important to focus on increasing the chances of her getting attacked than giving her more turns.

Best Yunli Light Cones

Unfortunately, Yunli doesn't have a lot of four-star or three-star options when it comes to her best Light Cone choices. Thankfully, the F2P-friendly five-star Light Cone can work well with her:

Dance At Sunset

Yunli's signature Light Cone fits her kit perfectly as it not only increases her chances of getting attacked, but also provides her with some easy Crit DMG and follow-up DMG bonus.

Something Irreplaceable

You can technically get this five-star Light Cone for free if you save enough currency after wishing, and it provides her with some extra ATK and overall DMG whenever she gets attacked.

It also allows her to heal a little bit when she gets attacked, increasing her sustainability.

The Unreachable Side

While you can't use this Light Cone's HP bonus on Yunli, it still fits her kit quite well as it gives her some much-needed Crit Rate while also increasing her DMG upon getting hit, which happens often.

On the Fall of an Aeon

This Light Cone will be the best choice for F2P or low-spending players as it can give her a ton of ATK while also increasing her DMG upon a Weakness Break.

The Moles Welcome You

Finally, The Moles Welcome You can be a decent option if you don't have any of the above choices as it gives you an ATK bonus upon the use of Skill or Ultimate.

Yunli Trace Overview And Priority

Yunli has one of the most basic kits in Honkai: Star Rail, and you can easily get used to it if you keep a few things in mind:

  • Yunli relies on dealing counter damage as her main source since she attacks an enemy and the enemies adjacent to it whenever she's attacked by them. This attack deals the same damage as her Skill, but it also increases her ATK for one turn.
  • You can get 15 extra Energy whenever an enemy attacks Yunli, which makes her getting attacked the perfect source for her to charge the Ultimate quickly. She can also stack her Ultimate up to two times, but only one stack is used at a time.
  • Upon the use of Ultimate, Yunli takes a special stance, and this stance lasts until the next ally's or enemy's turn. She taunts the enemies with this stance, and if she's attacked, she can deal an enhanced counter with six extra hits.
  • On the other hand, if Yunli isn't attacked within the next turn, she deals a less-enhanced version of the Counter. So, your main goal is to use the Ultimate right before an enemy's turn so you're guaranteed to get attacked in it.

The damage from the enhanced counter-attack can be increased both from Ultimate and follow-up DMG bonuses.

While you might see Yunli's normal counter from the talent trigger a lot more than her enhanced counter, it's still more important to upgrade her Ultimate first. You can follow this up with her Talent and then her Skill. It's important to unlock the Bonus Abilities and other stat nodes whenever possible, but you can ignore her Basic Attack completely.
