7 Clara

Clara is quite a special character in Honkai: Star Rail, especially if you consider the fact that she's a Standard unit that you can get at any point. Clara has a follow-up attack in her kit that triggers whenever she gets attacked, and this attack can trigger even when your allies get attacked after using the Ultimate.

If this follow-up hits an enemy with a Physical Weakness, it takes quite a significant chunk out of it. As you can see, if you pair Clara with Ruan Mei, you'll be able to shred even more Toughness from the enemy with her follow-up attacks and AoE Skill.

6 Guinaifen

Guinaifen might be a four-star in the game, but she can easily give you the value of a five-star if you know how to use her properly. Whenever an enemy takes damage from Burn applied by her, they gain a stack of Firekiss, which increases the overall damage taken by that enemy.

This is combined with her ability to apply Burn to three enemies with one Skill, and instantly trigger it once with her Ultimate. The AoE aspect of her kit also lets her shred a ton of Toughness from enemies weak to Fire, and you can use that with Ruan Mei's abilities to deal a ton of damage.

5 Argenti

Argenti has been quite an interesting character ever since he was introduced to Honkai: Star Rail. He's the only character that has two layers to his Ultimate, and he even got an entire section of Simulated Universe dedicated to himself in the form of the Erudition Path.

Argenti is quite a flexible character in Honkai: Star Rail and you can use him with almost every support and sustainer in the game.

He's truly an Erudition character since both his Skill and Ultimate can hit all the enemies present on the field. While this is already great for Toughness break, his Ultimate also hits twice, which makes him even better with Ruan Mei. You can easily shred an Elite's Toughness within two to three turns with this combination.

4 Huohuo

It might be easy to find a DPS character that suits Ruan Mei's play style the most, but that's not the same for finding a sustainer in your team. If you want to get the most value out of Ruan Mei's kit, Huohuo is your best choice since she regenerates the party's Energy with her Ultimate, making it easier to use Ruan Mei's Ultimate.

With this combination, you can easily stack a bunch of Break Effect on her to get the extra Weakness Break DMG by using it as the main stat on your Link Rope. However, this combination fizzles out if you're using Ruan Mei's signature Light Cone since you'll have too much Break Effect.

3 Dan Heng: Imbibitor Lunae

One of the major aspects of Ruan Mei's kit that sometimes gets ignored is her Skill-Point usage. Ruan Mei gets three stacks on her Skill whenever it's used, and one stack goes down every time she gets a turn. This means that you can use two Basic Attacks between every Skill, which makes her Skill Point-positive.

This makes her great with characters that have high SP usage like Dan Heng: Imbibitor Lunae or Qingque. The former character is also great at shredding the enemy's Toughness, which gets buffed alongside Ruan Mei.

2 Jingliu

When it comes to buffing Toughness damage, what could be better than using a character that shares the combat type with Ruan Mei? Jingliu has been one of the strongest DPS characters to use ever since her release, and she gets a significant buff alongside Ruan Mei.

Not only is her DMG buffed heavily with Mei's Skill and Ultimate, but also her Weakness Break becomes quite a strong component. Keep in mind that breaking an enemy's Weakness with Ice applies the Frozen effect, which makes them take two turns to recover if you use Ruan Mei's Ultimate on them as well.

1 Kafka

• Combat Type - Lightning

Kafka is the DoT-driver of Honkai: Star Rail because of her ability to instantly trigger every DoT on the enemy with her Skill and Ultimate. Coincidentally, the best DoT you can apply on any enemy is by triggering a Weakness Break using the Wind, Lightning, Fire, or Physical element.

This Weakness Break inflicts a major DoT on the enemy based on the character's Break Effect, and it becomes much easier to apply when you pair Ruan Mei with the character you're planning to break an enemy's weakness with, and Kafka is the best candidate for that.
