As Honkai: Star Rail gets older, it'll constantly get characters that introduce a brand-new play style for you. However, one thing that will always remain the same is the need for a sustainer in your team. Since the game features a turn-based combat system, you're bound to take damage during battle.

Nihility is one of the dominant paths in Honkai: Star Rail, and here are the best characters you can use from it.
PostsYou can either prevent this damage by shielding your characters or heal it back up using various Abundance units. While the characters from this path are dedicated healers, some of them can provide far more value to your team than others.
6 Natasha
Rarity
Four Star
Combat Type
Physical
If you've played Honkai: Star Rail from the beginning, there's a high chance that you already have Natasha built since she was one of the very few four-star options for a sustainer. While she was quite valuable in the early stages of the game, she quickly fell out of the meta as more characters got released.
Natasha has the ability to heal a single unit with her Skill while healing all her allies with the Ultimate. However, she doesn't really provide anything else to the team. As you reach the endgame content, you'd want your healers to do a little more than just heal.
5 Gallagher
Rarity
Four Star
Combat Type
Fire
Gallagher is the latest Abundance unit in the game, but he stands quite low on this list in the current state of the meta. The main reason for this is his Skill being a single-target heal while also not removing a debuff until you get his second Eidolon.

Here are all the materials you'll need to make Gallagher fill the sustainer role in your party in Honkai: Star Rail.
PostsThe main reason for this is the split nature of his kit. Apart from providing heals to his team, Gallagher also deals a ton of Toughness DMG and increases the Break DMG taken by the enemies. This sounds quite cool in theory, but it doesn't have many good teams in the current meta since there are very few DPS units relying on Break DMG.
4 Bailu
Rarity
Five Star
Combat Type
Lightning
Bailu might be a five-star unit, but you can get her quite easily on the Standard Banner or if you lose your 50:50 on the character banner. It's important to mention that while she has quite a low ranking on this list, you can still use her as a solo sustainer on your team, it's just that you'll have to perfect your builds on every character.
While her kit sounds quite good in theory because of the revive, the gacha aspect of her Skill and the lack of debuff removal is mainly what holds her back. Your team might get to live a little longer, but there's no point in that when your party members are crowd-controlled,
3 Lynx
Rarity
Four Star
Combat Type
Quantum
It might be surprising to see a four-star unit over a five-star on this list, but Lynx is too amazing of a character to put any lower. Her combat type is quite a big part of her usefulness since mono-Quantum teams are one of the best choices alongside characters like Silver Wolf and Sparkle.

Being an Abundance character, Lynx can be used in almost every team in the game, but here are the best ones to get the most value from her.
PostsHowever, she can enhance her usefulness even more if you use her with a Preservation or Destruction unit by increasing their chances of getting attacked. When this is paired with characters like Jingliu who rely on their Ultimate quite a lot, she can provide a decent amount of indirect support by increasing their aggro.
2 Luocha
Rarity
Five Star
Combat Type
Imaginary
Luocha was the first limited Abundance character released in Honkai: Star Rail, and he's one of the best choices for a solo sustain unit to this day. This is due to the sheer amount of utility he can provide. His Skill heals a single ally's health massively, and it can trigger automatically when an ally is below 50 percent HP every two turns.
After using his Skill or Ultimate twice, he also creates a field that heals all the allies whenever an enemy gets attacked. Apart from this massive wave of healing, Luocha can also remove debuffs from his allies and buffs from the enemies, which makes him the perfect pick against enemies relying on their buffs.
1 Huohuo
Rarity
Five Star
Combat Type
Wind
Finally, it's no surprise that Huohuo takes the crown of the best healer in the game since she has some parts of the Harmony path in her kit as well. She can already heal up to three allies with her Skill while also healing them up whenever they use a Skill or an Ultimate.
However, the best part about using this character is the Energy and ATK bonus provided by her Ultimate since it makes her work as a pseudo-buffer. This opens up the options of either placing her as a third Support buffing a single DPS or placing her in a double DPS composition with the likes of Ruan Mei who also provides party-wide buffs.
