Of all the collect quests in Hollow Knight: Silksong, the Right of the Pollip has to be one of the most difficult to track down. With six full locations to find in the most obscure parts of the dense Shellwood, remembering where you have been and where you must go is a task in itself.

This particular wish, thankfully, comes with a very interesting and potentially game-changing charm to make all that hassle worth it. Of course, what exactly the right is and does is not perfectly explained by Greyroot, but who really cares about the consequences of actions where there's a 100 percent achievement to earn and a charm to add to our collection?

How To Begin The Right Of The Pollip Wish

This quest is given inside the Shellwood. However, before you ever begin this quest, we highly recommend having the Shellwood map. Its location differs depending on when you entered Shellwood for the first time:

  • If you came to Shellwood from the Wormways before going through Greymoor, the map will be sold at Shakra's Greymoor location (east of the Far Fields entrance).
  • If you came to Shellwood from Bellhart, take the west exit from the first Shellwood bench (the one close to Bellhart), descend in the elevator, and take the bottom-left exit to find Shakra selling the map here.

No matter where you find her, the Shellwood map is 70 Rosary.

With the map in hand, visit Greyroot at her abode on the west side of the Shellwood. To reach her for the first time:

  • Head west from the east Shellwood bench.
  • Go as far left as possible in the next room, taking the top left exit (not the one on the ground).
  • Enter the house at the end of the room.

She will ask you to fetch her six purple pollips. Accept the quest, and you can begin collecting the pollip hearts in earnest.

It is possible to collect all six pollip hearts before ever speaking to Greyroot, shortening the time spent on this Wish by a small amount.

Where To Find Pollip Hearts

Pollip Hearts come from unique purple flowers you might have already seen when exploring the Shellwood. To collect a heart, you must strike that purple flower three times to destroy it.

Additionally, you should keep in mind the following truths about pollip heart locations:

  1. Many of these pollip hearts are guarded by annoying wood wasps, requiring you to juggle their swarming attacks while collecting the hearts.
  2. You will have to defeat Sister Splinter at some point to finish this quest.
  3. Cling Grip, obtained after Sister Splinter, is required for the final three pollip hearts.
  4. You can find pollip hearts in any order, but they do not respawn after they are destroyed.

First Pollip Heart Location

The first does not require Cling Grip to reach (though it does make things faster) and is guarded by swarms of wood wasps (both below and at the site).

To reach this pollip without Cling Grip:

  1. You can start in the room two exits west of Bellhart (the room southwest of the east bench).
  2. Start on the left side of this room and begin climbing up.
  3. Continue climbing until you reach the east wall, where you will see vines and wood wasps.
  4. Go up to find the flower in the top right corner.

Second Pollip Heart Location

Although not guarded by any enemies, this pollip heart will require a little skill to reach. You have to jump off the white flowers to reach the pollip in the top left corner of the center alcove.

This small, vertical room is located in the dead center of Shellwood and must be reached from the top-left exit from the east bench room. Inside, there is only a single splinterhorn in the room, making it safe to try your pogo-ing without much interruption.

We recommend the Hunter's crest for this. The Beast's crest can cause all sorts of issues with accurate platforming, and the Wanderer's crest nail sometimes isn't long enough to strike the purple pollip consistently, adding more frustrations.

Third Pollip Heart Location

This pollip will likely be found naturally as you progress through the Shellwood. It is found in the room directly after your Sister Splinter boss fight.

After defeating Sister Splinter, continue through to the next area (left of her arena) with your eyes peeled below you. Eventually, you will see two white flowers below and a few growths on the walls. Jump down and to the left to find this flower in the small alcove.

Fourth Pollip Heart Location

Once you gain Cling Grip, run into the room to the right of Herrah's statue where you see a large pool. Rather than going right toward Bellhart, you will want to go up and past the splinterbarks.

Following this upward path, you will dead-end into a nest of wood wasps at the end of a pool (ew!). Destroy this nest, and you will open a secret tunnel that leads down to the pollip heart.

Fifth Pollip Heart Location

After getting your Cling Grip, you can return to the east bench. Whether you get this pollip heart first or the sixth pollip heart does not matter; they are essentially next to one another.

For this particular pollip heart, you can reach it by:

  • Using the bottom-right exit in the east bench's room.
  • Go down the room enough until you can start making your way right.
  • Follow platforms toward and along the right wall of the room.
  • Climb up the right wall when possible to reach the pollip heart at the top.

Beware of the wood wasps guarding this location!

Sixth Pollip Heart Location

From the east bench again, we can wrap up this little sidequest with the easiest-to-reach of all the pollip hearts. Jump onto the right wall near the east bench and take it up to the first exit on the right.

Once you enter the next room, drop off the ledge here (don't jump onto the platform) and destroy the breakable vine wall to your left. This will reveal the hidden passage to the final pollip flower.

If you are having trouble reaching the right wall near the east bench, call the elevator down. You can jump off the top of it for a little springboard.

Reward For Completing The Rite Of The Pollip

Return to Greyroot once you have collected all six pollip hearts. When she asks, give her the pollip hearts and then wait for her to finish using them off-screen.

In return for your aid, she will give you the Pollip Pouch. This interesting item will apply venom to your tools. But what does venom do?

Venom adds additional ticks of damage during its initial contact and then deals an additional tick of damage after a brief delay. This is exceptionally useful against strong foes you don't want to fight for long, like bosses and those awful wraiths in the Mist.

For trap-based builds, the Pollip Pouch is a must-have item. Therefore, getting the Pollip Pouch as soon as possible when aiming for such a build is of paramount importance, making this tedious task certainly worth the trouble.

Drinkable or injectable items like the Flea Brew and the Plasmium Vial are uniquely affected by the Pollip Pouch. Flea Brew will allow you to afflict Venom on enemies with normal nail strikes, and the Plasmium Vial will add a temporary mask of health that explodes into a mist of Venom around you after a short delay.
