Hollow Knight: Silksong was always going to be a challenging game. Its predecessor, Hollow Knight, was known for its challenge, and with seven years to make Silksong more devious, Team Cherry was never going to disappoint.

Mere hours after the game's release, though, frustrations are already arising with the difficulty of the early-game enemies, specifically those that deal two damage, being a bit too much for players.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Is A Very Hard Game, Unsurprisingly

There are a lot of enemies early on in Hollow Knight: Silksong that deal two masks' worth of damage to the Hornet. Far more than in the early moments of Hollow Knight. The early bosses pack a punch, too, and it's already stressing players out.

In the hours since its launch, no fewer than three Reddit threads have surfaced with players complaining about how quickly the difficulty ramps up in Silksong compared to Hollow Knight.

It's not just the double damage or lack of masks that are giving players issues, either. Metallicabody said, "I don’t mind the double damage that much, but the health of some of the mobs is absolutely wild, common mobs taking 6–10 hits." Nemesis_171 added, "Dude, that one armored ant in the Hunter’s March takes 13 hits."

Much of this frustration has likely come from the fact that players are used to the way Hollow Knight plays, but it's a difficult adjustment to make, especially if you're used to the original game.
