New Silksong Community Creation Helps Keep The Compass Always On

If things have felt a bit quiet to you over the last 24 hours or so, it's because, finally, after what felt like ages of waiting, Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally out. In the hours following its release, over half a million people were playing the game on Steam alone, and not even 24 hours later, there are already people who've claimed to beat the game.
On the other end of the spectrum are those in the modding community, who are actively working to find any lane, no matter how small, to improve the game. Already, the game has received several community additions, including one that feels like an in-game must.
Don't Waste A Tool Slot On The Compass
Over on Nexus Mods, creator VeganForTheAnimals has released a double dose of benefits with the "Always On Compass Plus Magnet" mod.
As its namesake implies, the creation will "keep your compass permanently active, even without equipping it. Perfect for players who want to focus on exploration without giving up a tool slot. Also includes a version with a permanent magnet!"
In the hours since its release, the mod has already been downloaded 4,431 times. The next closest mod, a cheat pack, has been downloaded nearly 2,000 times, with all other creations hovering in the single digits.
The creation couldn't have come at a better time, as the Steam forums for Silksong had already had posts from gamers who were frustrated that the compass takes up a precious slot.
Of course, having to decide what to use a slot on is a key strategic element of the game that developer Team Cherry has crafted, but it's not exactly the most user-friendly, especially for those who might be jumping in with Silksong due to its hype and extremely affordable cost. Well, problem solved.
