Super Earth needs you to defeat the hive planets in the galaxy, and in Helldivers 2 it's your mission to follow orders without asking questions. One of the most dangerous tasks to date is facing off against the infamous Hive Lords that lurk beneath the surface of these planets. These are no ordinary foes, and only the most capable Helldivers can defeat them.

If you're up to the task, soldier, we'll brief you on how to exploit any weaknesses and bring these massive sand worms down. It will take plenty of firepower and coordination, but you can eliminate the threat!

Where To Find Hive Lords

Hive Lords are giant worm-like creatures that plague hive planets in the Terminid sector. These monsters are massive and deal immense damage to anything that has the misfortune of crossing their path. They're responsible for the tunnels and elaborate cave systems in the planet's crust, and any opportunity to slay one cannot be passed up.

If you're looking to hunt these new and terrifying monsters, set your sights on the upper difficulties. They are almost guaranteed to appear at the tenth difficulty level, but have appeared as low as seventh level.

You'll hear a horrid tunneling sound when one is near, and it won't take long for it to emerge and send debris and sand flying everywhere. That's where the fight begins, and where you better start running.

How To Kill A Hive Lord Terminid Boss

To kill a Hive Lord, you'll need to bring in the big guns. With a whopping 150,000 HP at the time of writing this, it won't go down easy. Hellbombs, Railcannons, and Spears are your best bets for taking it down quickly – and we use that term very loosely.

It's hard to miss the Hive Lord since it's the size of a skyscraper, but when it tunnels underground, keep an eye on the sand. If you're caught in its path when tunneling, it will send you flying.

To kill it, you'll need to drop heavy ammo into its body and head. Hellbombs are also your best chance at dealing a lot of damage all at once, but the timing is tricky. 500kg bombs can also help you bring this worm to its metaphorical knees.

Beware the acid it spews out! It will definitely kill you.

The main issue isn't even dealing damage to the massive beast, the struggle is staying alive. Don't try to run away or toward the worm, but instead go to the side to avoid its lunge and spray attacks.

Ultimately, it's incredibly difficult to bring down a Hive Lord, but it's easier with a team of capable Helldivers that work together. Before embarking on a mission to defeat one of these massive monsters in the name of Liberty, coordinate a plan of attack and come ready with plenty of stims.
