In Hell Is Us, everything is up to you. The game gives you little by way of guidance, with no map markers or compass highlighting nearby points of interest. Instead, you have to rely on more traditional methods, such as identifying landmarks and using a standard compass to find your way around. The Acasa Marshes are the first time this is really put to the test.

Here, there are a multitude of unique locations and items you can stumble upon, but one of the more mysterious are the standing pillars by a very conspicuous locked door in the middle of nowhere. There's a method to unlocking this, just one that might not be very obvious if you stumbled across it by chance. So here's how to get inside and claim your rewards.

Where To Find The Martial Lineage Mystery

The Martial Lineage Mystery will begin as soon as you strike one of the pillars by the Vigil Training Grounds, though that does first require you to actually find it. You can do this in two ways, though ultimately they end up being the same. The first involves simply randomly stumbling upon it while out exploring, and the other has you finding a letter that more explicitly tells you where to find it.

This letter is not necessary to actually finding the Vigil Training Grounds nor completing the Martial Lineage Mystery.

Since they both lead you to the Vigil Training Grounds, we'll start by telling you where to find the letter. This is found in the Blacksmith's Forge in Jova. For it to become open, you must find Victor at the end of the tunnel with the ON vehicle in Acasa Marshes, then explore Vitalis' home, Afterwards, the forge will be reopened, and the letter can be found inside.

This letter will tell you approximately where to find the Vigil Training Grounds, as well as the method to unlocking it. According to the letter, the Vigil Training Grounds can be found by Monument Hill. This itself is found in the north-east of Acasa marshes close to the water, past the large timeloop in the centre of the map. It is by the water on the way towards the tunnel where you initially find Victor and the ON convoy.

You can find a map of Acasa Marshes at the ON Outpost just outside of Jova if you want some extra guidance on where you're going.

The area itself will be identified by a stone door a stairs built into the hillside, and four pillars spread around it. From here, you can complete the Martial Lineage Mystery.

How To Complete Martial Lineage

Once you arrive at the Vigil Training Grounds, make note of all the pillars around you, of which there will be four in total. These must be hit in a specific order for the door to the training grounds itself to open. The Martial Lineage Mystery will begin when you hit the first pillar. If you hit them in the wrong order, you will have to hit all four to make them reset, and then start again.

The pillars must be hit in sequence following a counter-clockwise pattern, as stated in the letter. To begin, you must start at the north-easternmost pillar, and then follow it around in order. If you hit them in the correct order, all four pillars will remain glowing, and a large rumbling will be heard as the door to the Vigil Training Grounds is opened.

This will mark the completion of the Martial Lineage Mystery, though there are plenty more rewards for ou to find inside.

The Rewards

Head down the newly-opened stairs, and make sure to turn on your flashlight so you can see where you are going. Inside there will be four items, two you can equip, and two that are just for lore building. The items you can equip will be identifed by the green sparkles, while the others will instead be white.

The two equippable items are the Brooch of Terror - Dreadful Verve, which will increase your stamina regeneration as long as you remain undamaged. The second is the Lymbic Greatsword, which comes at level 1. You may also find a letter titled Proud father, and a Wrapped Candle Research item. Research items will have a purpose later in the game, so don't worry about this right now.

With that, you will have now completed the Martial Lineage Mystery, and acquired all of the items within the Vigil Training Grounds.
