One of the first introductions you'll have to the peak of Mt. Olympus in Hades 2 is to a particular pair of aggressive, agile predators: the Twins of Typhon. Summoned to stand between you and their creator, you'll have to bring as much cunning as strength to this fight.

PostsOf course, monsters care very little about honor. Rather than take you on themselves, they brought an entourage of pesky minions to make their hunt easier. Too bad for them that you've been trained by Athena herself, and we have just the recipe for you to turn this hunt on its head.

Suggested Counters
Summon Reinforcements
At the beginning of combat, the Twins will summon a batch of small crystalline minions (Headstones) that project energy beams. These beams connect to the closest minion ally, making fence-like lines that deal damage when crossed or touched.
Immediately run to the outer edges of the arena and begin attacking all minions, running in a circle to evade attacks from the Twins. Do not stop until all minions are defeated.
Shark Attack
Slipping into the earth, a twin disappears. It is indicated only by a red horn protruding from the ground. It follows you until it reaches melee distance, bursting from the ground in a spin attack.
Run away from the shark attack to put distance between the Twins and, when ready, dash through the twin's horn and continue moving forward to evade the spin attack. Double-back for an attack.
Downward Claw
Couching first, the twin glows white just before the attack and then lunges forward for a sweeping, downward claw attack.
Continue running and dodge through at the last second of the lunge to evade the claw. Attack.
Dual Slash
Glowing white, a twin will raise its claws back for a short, horizontal sweep followed by a lunging, larger forward slice with both claw-arms.
Dodge forward and through this attack if in close melee. Otherwise, continue sprinting left or right and keep your distance until the attack ends. Watch for a Honed Energy follow-up.
Honed Energy
Swiping both of its claws into the ground, a twin generates two red sources of energy that slide along the ground. These masses slowly track the player and die out with time. Possible chain attack with Dual Slash.
Run in the opposite direction the twin was facing when it attacked. Attack if the opportunity to double-back safely is there.
read moreThe Twins of Typhon are thankfully more bark than bite - especially for a late-game boss.
Their moveset consists of only four attacks and a summoning of minions, meaning that learning their patterns is an easy task.
However, failing to learn will result in no small amount of pain as their damage output is scaled for a final-area miniboss. Shortly put: Ow.
For an edge on learning the Twins' moves, we suggest referencing the comprehensive table above.
The most important move you should watch is the "Shark Attack."
You'll want to:
- Train your eyes on the ground.
- Never allow the Twins out of your camera's view.
This will ensure that you're never caught unaware by this high-damage surprise attack.
Honed Energy is made more dangerous if you're running with an Ares build. Because of the size of the energy swelling in the ground, you can accidentally mistake them for Blood Drops. Being vigilant and keeping your camera on the Twins will lower the chances of getting the two confused.
This rule of thumb goes triple for the upcoming Typhon boss fight, where mistaking Blood Drops and small projectiles becomes dangerously easy. Consider this training.
How To Beat The Twins Of Typhon
The Twins of Typhon is a tricky fight that requires setting aside the real boss for a moment to focus on the real danger: the minions.
At the beginning of your encounter, the twins will call upon tiny minions - the Heartstones - that form links of energy betwixt one another. Getting caught by these fence-like links will do rapidly stacking damage.
Your first task for fighting the Twins of Typhon in most build scenarios will be to focus on these minions.
Take them out quickly, skirting around the edges of the arena. It is too risky to cut through the center with both Twins still on your tail.
Once the minions have been defeated, you can set your sights on the Twins.
Although not pictured, the Twins do technically have their own healthbars. If you focus your attacks on one of the Twins, it will eventually be independently defeated.
Focusing your attacks on a single twin- with their speed, aggression, penchant for the "Shark Attack," and low HP for their location - is altogether unnecessary. Do damage where you have the opportunity. Don't let needing to focus on a single Twin overcome the true goal of this fight: maximizing damage against your foes while minimizing the damage you take.
The Twins of Typhon hyper-aggressive nature will mean that they'll be within melee-range for most of the encounter. Having them in the same spot can be very dangerous.
To get ample attack openings, you'll want to:
- Try and separate them as much as possible, sprinting around and dodging forward through attacks to split their focus and patterns.
- Bait out attacks by getting close in melee, dodging first, and attacking only once their animations are complete.
Casts are not as useful as they are in the Talos or Chronos fights. Their aggressive nature and speed make Casts less effective as they're constantly slipping through them. WhileCasts should still be used for damage and an edge on speed, you should not rely on them.
Suggested Boons
Although the Twins of Typhon are not worthy of planning for specifically, we do have a few boon recommendations that have proven effective against them:
Boon
God
Why it works
Passion Rush
Aphrodite
You'll be doing a lot of dashing for this fight. This boon allows you to make the most of those dashes by doing extra damage while also inflicting Weak, decreasing the danger an error might pose in this fast-paced fight.
Breaker Sprint
Poseidon
Like Passion Rush, it's a dash. However, you trade the Weak affliction for the opportunity to deal damage to the Heartstones around the arena without slowing down.
Sworn Strike/Flourish
Hera
Inflicting Hitch with so many enemies on the field ensures that even when you aren't striking them directly, you may still do damage to the Twins and the Headstones simultaneously.
Breaker Sprint is better for this fight post-update for this area. This is because the five Magicka cost for using it has been removed, giving you an unlimited free dash that deals damage and knocks around the Headstones.
With only four attacks to watch for, it is more effective to learn the punishments for all four attacks than to focus on one.
However, if we are to determine which attack leaves the widest vulnerability, we recommend focusing on the Shark Attack.
The cooldown for Shark Attack is the longest of the four attacks, and unlike the others, it has an unmistakable cue that guarantees that you'll never be surprised by its pattern.
To make the most of it:
- Run or walk away at your own pace from the submerged Twin to wait for the moment you feel most comfortable.
- When ready, approachthe Twin and then dash forward as it emerges.
- Wait for it to finish its spin attack (charging an Omega, if you like) and punish after.
Eventually, you'll end up defeating at least one of the Twins of Typhon. After, defeating the other should come quickly and easily.
Thankfully, their defeat means that you're already halfway to the final boss of this area. The Tail of Typhon awaits you after one or two small rooms, and then the boss himself awaits just beyond.
