Take-Two has confirmed in its most recent fiscal report that GTA 6 is still on track to launch in 2025, but that Rockstar is aiming for "perfection" and won't release it until it's ready.

Although it might feel like a lifetime ago since we all got our first look at Jason and Lucia making their way through Vice City, it was actually just a few months ago now. Despite it being such a short while ago and Rockstar notoriously keeping its cards close to its chest until closer to release, a lot of fans are still waiting to hear about any kind of update on the game.

While it certainly feels like it's going to be some time until we get an update on GTA 6 from Rockstar itself, Take-Two has just provided us with a little bit of news on the game. Over the last few days, several studios shared their fiscal reports for the third quarter of 2024, giving us a bit of insight into how games are selling and some plans and tentative dates for future releases.

As part of Take-Two Interactive's fiscal report, it included a calendar that shares release windows for most of its upcoming announced games. On that list is GTA 6, which is listed as having a release date of "calendar year 2025". Although this is the same date that was given during the reveal trailer, it's comforting to know that it's being stuck to by Take-Two.

That wasn't all that was said about GTA 6, though. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick also spoke about the game while talking to investors, noting that Take-Two and Rockstar are "seeking perfection" and won't release the game until they feel they have "optimised creatively". That might just sound like a vague buzzword, but it's essentially saying that it won't be released until it's done.

"There is inherent tension, potentially, between getting something to market and creating perfection, but this company errs on the side of perfection."

As reported by GamesRadar+, Zelnick also had some choice words about the excitement for GTA 6, noting that it's "much, much higher" than it was for GTA 5, which he pointed out has sold around 195 million copies since its launch more than decade ago. Zelnick said, "On the other hand, you know, 195 million units to date is nothing to sneeze at. We stop well short of making predictions about how the title will do, but clearly anticipation is running very, very high."
