Meanwhile, other monsters fall through the cracks and are relegated to making cameos in comic books or stock footage. Perhaps it was because the monsters weren’t powerful enough, or they simply weren’t as popular. Here are some monsters that never showed up in the main films again!

This list will focus on the main films. So appearances in spin-off media like TV shows, comics, and video games won't count.

10 Varan

A Giant Gliding Lizard

Varan is a monster who appeared in two films before disappearing. He was a giant reptile-like creature with wing flaps beneath his arms. His first debut was in his standalone movie Varan. While not originally associated with Godzilla, Varan would show up again in Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters.

Since then, he has not appeared in any major films, though he did show up in a puppet web series, Godziban. Varan would also appear as a playable character in Godzilla Unleashed for the Nintendo Wii.

9 Gorosaurus

He Is Just A Dinosaur

Gorosaurus is a dinosaur-like kaiju that first appeared in King Kong Escapes, which was a sequel to the original King Kong Vs Godzilla. Seeing as they exist in the same universe, Gorosaurus would then show up again in Godzilla Destroy All Monsters.

In the film, he attacks Paris under the control of the invading Klaaks. Gorosaurus has not shown up in a Godzilla Film since then. However, he did appear as an enemy in the series Go! Godman. His abilities include a mighty jumping kick.

8 Battra

Hot Topic's Mothra

Battra first made his debut in Godzilla Vs Mothra Battle For Earth. He was the guardian of Earth before going rogue and being defeated by Mothra. Battra emerged to destroy humanity, believing that humans were a threat to nature. Battra would later take on a new adult form during the final confrontation with Godzilla.

7 Biollante

The Grass Isn't Always Greener

When a scientist’s daughter is killed, her consciousness becomes intertwined with a plant-based monster dubbed Biollante. When fighting Godzilla, Biollante takes on a more crocodile-like form that completely towers over the king of monsters.

With vine-like appendages and the ability to spew acidic poison out of her mouth, Biollante nearly kills Godzilla. During the battle, Biollante is mortally injured and retreats into space. She never returns to the films, but her cells are believed to be the cause of Space Godzilla’s origins, since she shared Godzilla's DNA.

6 Megaguirus

An Unbeatable Swarm

Megaguirus was a monster introduced in the Millennium era of Godzilla. She was designated the queen of the meganulon, a breed of prehistoric insects. Increasing in size after absorbing Godzilla’s energy, Megaguirus was capable of supersonic speeds.

She also possessed the ability to absorb energy through her giant stinger. Megaguirus would only make one film appearance before being retired to the realm of comic books and video games. Luckily, Megaguirus did make a very brief cameo appearance through stock footage in Godzilla Final Wars.

5 Titanosaurus

Whip Up A Hurricane

Titanosaurus is an aquatic dinosaur that only ever appeared in Terror of Mechagodzilla. With a tail flap capable of stirring up heavy weather and the ability to swim at fast speeds, Titanosaurus would team up with Mechagodzilla to destroy Godzilla. Humanity's Best Friend

Gabara has the power to zap other monsters with his electrified hands and constantly bullies Minilla. In the film, he is an imaginary monster that parallels Ichiro’s own bully of the same name. Gabara would later make a surprise comeback in Godzilla Singular Point with a drastically changed design.
