Making your way around the Nordic wilds and various realms in God of War Ragnarok can be a tough slog. Thankfully, there's a magical tool to make life much simpler. Just like God of War (2018), Mystic Gateways are the key to transporting Kratos with ease between realms or as shortcuts bypassing areas you've already traversed.
RELATED: God Of War Ragnarok: Lore Marker Location Guide
In order to fast travel to an area, you must have journeyed there yourself first and activated the Mystic Gateway, just by simply walking near it. In total, there are 38 Mystic Gateways that you must discover if you're seeking to explore everything God of War Ragnarok has to offer.
Sindri's House
The first Mystic Gateway is opposite Sindri's House. You'll undoubtedly access this gateway many times throughout the campaign.
Svartalfheim
There are seven Mystic Gateways in the realm of Svartalfheim.
Mystic Gateway
Location
Description
Aurvangar Wetlands
This is accessed as the first gateway in the mainline story. Chances are that you've already unlocked this one.
Nidavellir
The Nidavellir Mystic Gateway is another one that you'll automatically gain in progressing through the main storyline.
Nidavellir Beach
Nidavellir Beach will also be acquired during the critical path storyline after you obtain a certain key weapon later in the game.
The Watchtower
You can find this gateway while traveling to explore the Northern portion of the Bay of Bounty. It's close to a Dwarven shop on a small piece of land that separates the upper and lower halves of the bay. And, of course, there is a watchtower overlooking it.
The Applecore Descent
This one can be found by taking the raft affixed to the rope pulley just Northwest of the Aurvangr Wetlands gateway.
The Applecore
This can be found later in the game after obtaining a certain key weapon. You must take the raft near the Aurvangr Wetlands gateway Northwest and sort of travel through the Applecore backward from the way you did in the story quest earlier in the game. You'll have to make use of the spear now in order to reach ledges and progress.
Keep in mind that you'll have to battle a troll named Miklimunnr who is residing in the prison area you originally found Tyr in. He's a fire troll, but his attacks are fairly straightforward and in line with what you've come to expect from trolls at this point. The gateway is right behind a gate that you can now open to access the path into the Pitmines that you first traveled through in the story.
Jarnsmida Pitmines
This is best accessed in the same breath as the Applecore gateway. Continue on to the Jarnsmida Pitmines and remove the obstacles in your way. You'll have to ignite a batch of rocks, toss your spear into a rock wall, create a zipline, and burn bramble in order to access this gateway.
Helheim
There is only one way into Helheim.
Mystic Gateway

Hel's Perch
This will be accessed during the story.
Muspelheim
Surtr's domain is the home of two Mystic Gateways.
Mystic Gateway

Burning Cliffs
This Mystic Gateway is accessed through the main storyline.
The Crucible
This Mystic Gateway will require two Yggdrasil Seeds to unlock once made available. It will, of course, take you to the arena where you can tackle the Muspelheim Trials and won't be available until much later in the storyline.
Niflheim
Once again, there are only two Mystic Gateways in this realm.
Mystic Gateway
Location
Description
The Raven Tree
The Raven Tree Mystic Gateway will be activated in the storyline.
Mist Fields
You can activate this gateway with one Yggdrasil Seed once available.
Vanaheim
Vanaheim is the largest of the realms. As such, there are 12 Mystic Gateways positioned throughout the realm.
Mystic Gateway
Location
Description
Freyr's Camp
This Mystic Gateway will be accessed during the storyline.
River Delta
The River Delta Gateway can be found near the Cliffside Ruins. It will be located just off a beach marked on the map below next to a Dwarven shop. If you're cruising the river in this area, you can't miss it.
The Southern Wilds
You can locate this gateway on your map in the lowest part of the Southern Wilds. It will be accessed organically as part of the game's narrative.
The Abandoned Village
At the Northernmost edge of the river is an abandoned village. You should see it marked on your map. There is a gateway here that can be accessed with a Yggdrasil Seed. You'll find it inside of side the ruins of half a building.
Crater Entrance
This gateway is located in the Northern Crater region that is only accessible once completing the Scent of Survival favor. After traveling here by air via a mystical paper boat and plummeting to the Earth after experiencing a disturbance, Kratos will be just a few strides away from the gateway.
Western Plains
You can find this gateway when exploring The Crater. If you follow the Western paths available toward the point on the map, you'll locate a Celestial Altar and a Mystic Gateway right next to it.
The Overgrown Tower
You must turn the day to night in order to gain access to the area on the map below. During the day, an impenetrable barrier blocks a gate that grants you access to this area. If you haven't already, you'll have to fight a dragon (The Crimson Dread) in order to access the gateway.
Eastern Plains
You can access this gateway by boat or by land. When you travel to this region on the Eastern side of The Crater, the Mystic Gateway will be just down a short flight of stairs from a Lore Marker. There's also a Dwarven shop and a Celestial Altar nearby. This area is pretty much a one-stop shop.
Sinkholes Entrance
If you head directly East, you'll pass under two circular archways and find a zipline. Head down the zipline and then turn right to find a cave with poison totems. Throw your axe at the totems, pass through, and cross the river on the other side to find the gateway.
The Sinkholes
To access this Mystic Gateway, you will need to have completed the Return of the River favor. From the previous Sinkholes Entrance gateway, you'll first want to go through the tunnel next to it. In the courtyard with a moat on the other side, you'll want to veer right and pull the chain to open the gate blocking the canal. Then head back to the Sinkhole Entrance, swing across the river, and grab the boat. Then head to your immediate right through the now-opened waterway. The gateway will be near the Eastern dock in this area.
Jungle Entrance
The Jungle area of Vanaheim is located just South of The Crater. During the night, a barrier is open that enables you to cross a rock bridge into the Jungle area on the south side of The Crater region. If you follow the path into the Jungle, you'll eventually encounter some mighty large footprints. Mimir will make a note of it. You will then find the Mystic Gateway close by.
The Jungle
After venturing into the heart of the jungle, you can find a boat. The Mystic Gateway is located just off the shore near a Nornir Chest. You'll be able to easily see it from the river in this area. You can't miss it.
Jotunheim
There is only one Mystic Gateway in Jotunheim.

Angrboda's Treehouse
A story mission will take you to this realm, but you can only access the gateway later with a single Yggdrasil Seed if you wish to return.
Alfheim
This realm contains four Mystic Gateways. Considering the size of the area, that's a rather small number.
Mystic Gateway
Location
Description
The Strond
This gateway will be accessed during the story.
Temple Of Light
On the path to the temple in the area before you approach the structure, you'll see a wall that you can destroy with a spear next to a Nornir Chest. Behind that wall is the gateway.
The Canyons
The Canyons gateway leads to a few optional areas within Alfheim to complete side tasks and gain collectibles. If you head Northeast from The Strond gateway, you will come to a path with roots that you will need to hit with your axe in one toss. This will clear a path for you to wall climb. You will find a Dwarven shop, a Lore Totem, and the Mystic Gateway here.
The Hjarta
This gateway is found in the passage between The Barrens and The Forbidden Sands. You must complete the Secret of the Sands favor which begins when you enter The Barrens. Once you complete this side quest, you can use the Runic Slate at the passage located on the map below to unlock it.
Midgard
There are several points of interest in Midgard, at least if you plan on being a completionist. As such, there are eight Mystic Gateways to find throughout the map.

This one will be accessed during the main campaign.
Lake Of Nine
This is another gateway that will be accessed during the mainline story. It sits out in the open on the edge of the lake next to a Dwarven shop.
The Oarsmen
This one is tucked away in the North. It's not difficult to find if you head to this area on the map and survey the landscape.
Alfheim Tower
From The Oarsmen gateway, head back up the stairs and back the way you came. Jump over the ravine, and this time climb the ledge in front of you to head down the path that leads to Alfheim Tower. You'll pass a realm tear along the way. You'll also have to burn the bramble off the tower's elevator controls.
King's Grave
This Mystic Gateway will be accessed during the story.
The Lost Treasury
There are really no barriers to accessing this gateway, just head to the point on the map, and you'll see it out in the open.
The Derelict Outpost
As you head to the outpost on the map, you'll see the Mystic Gateway after you jump over a stone barrier. Just head around the rubble and you can access it.
Sanctuary Grove
Ah, Freya's secluded home tucked away in Midgard. It's chilly, and the turtle is starving. But it's a safe haven nonetheless. You can unlock this gateway with one Yggdrasil Seed.
