A reliable insider has claimed that they have it "on good authority" that a new mainline God of War game is currently in the works, presumably at Sony Santa Monica.

Considering how many dormant franchises PlayStation has under its belt (I think about you every day, Sly), God of War fans really haven't had to wait all that long for a new entry in the series. Ragnarok was only a few years ago, but that hasn't stopped everyone from wondering when Kratos is coming back.

Over the past few months, it's been reported that a new God of War game actually is in development and will soon be announced, although it's not quite what fans are expecting since it's reportedly a spin-off Metroidvania starring Deimos. Don't worry, though, as a reputable leaker has claimed that a new game is also on the way.

God Of War's Next Big Game Is Reportedly In Development

Sony Santa Monica Is Keeping Busy

Yesterday, Insider Gaming shared some details about what might appear at this month's rumoured State of Play, which apparently includes Wolverine and the rumoured God of War Metroidvania. In that same article, Insider Gaming shares some details about God of War's future as a whole.

Insider Gaming says that it "has it on good authority" that a new mainline God of War game is currently in the works, presumably at Sony Santa Monica. Santa Monica working on the next God of War makes sense since we know that team is split into two and working on different things, with one team on Cory Barlog's unannounced game.

Even though Insider Gaming has claimed that the next mainline God of War game is in development, there's no chance it gets revealed at the upcoming State of Play, so don't get too excited for that.

Sadly, nothing else was revealed about the rumoured God of War game, but it's an easy enough claim to believe. Not only is God of War one of PlayStation's biggest franchises of all time, but Sony Santa Monica even has job listings that seem to suggest one of its teams is working on God of War.

For now, we'll just have to wait for some kind of official announcement, but enough insiders are reporting that God of War's next big game is in development, so it seems likely that it really is happening. Now we just have to play the waiting game and theorise where it's going to be set.
