Summary
- Celestial Guardians has massively shaken up the Pokemon TCG meta.
- Giratina ex remains a dominant force with new partners, like Greninja, in tournament play.
- The new expansion introduced a new deck featuring Giratina ex and Greninja, which has a high win rate of 68.04%.
Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's latest expansion, Celestial Guardians, has undoubtedly given the game's meta its biggest shake-up to date. Rare Candy made Stage 2 evolutions viable again, Druddigon got competition as one of the game's best stallers, Oricorio made it a million times harder for 18 Trainer/two ex decks, and it introduced a Supporter Card that can KO your Pokemon. These changes have left players scrambling to adjust their decks to remain competitive.

This expansion could make 2025 the Pokemon TCG's best year ever.
PostsBut while changes are afoot, it seems like one card has remained resilient throughout, with decks containing it continuing to hold down the top spot in the Pokemon TCG Pocket rankings.
Giratina ex Is Still One Of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's Biggest Assets, Because Of Course It Is
Over the last couple of months, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's competitive scene has been dominated by one deck — Giratina ex and Darkrai ex.
The duo of Legendary/Mythical Pokemon has been one of the most used and successful decks in TCG Pocket's short history, with the two cards complementing each other perfectly. And while there were some great counters, they remained on top for a considerable amount of time.
Oricorio came in and made those decks much more challenging to maintain, but that's not stopped Giratina ex, who's found a new partner, and continues to dominate proceedings.

But the events remain the same.
PostsAccording to Limitless TCG, a deck containing Giratina ex and Greninja has started to dominate tournaments since the release of Celestial Guardians. Although the deck hasn't gained significant popularity yet, only used in 0.54 percent of matchups, its win rate is nothing to be balked at.
Of the 97 matches it has appeared in, this new deck has won 66 and drawn 28, giving it a win rate of 68.04 percent, one of the highest in history.
The inclusion of Greninja adds so much versatility to the deck. It can snipe any Oricorio that is stopping Giratina from attacking, or it can attack the opposition's benched Pokemon, allowing Cyrus to switch them in, and Giratina ex to get the KO.
Incineroar ex and Turtonator, both new cards in Celestial Guardians, have taken the second spot with a 63.33 percent win rate, and a Magnezone and Oricorio deck is in third, with a 57.46 percent win rate.
We're still early in the Celestial Guardians meta, but it already feels so fresh and exciting.
