Genshin Impact's fourth nation is fun to explore, especially with the introduction of bouncy mushrooms and four-leaf sigils that help you get to locations faster. However, the best part of the region is its Archon Quest and its side quests, which give a lot of content for us to clear and more Primogems to farm.

The home of the Dendro Archon is a huge place, with varying environments and diverse groups of people and creatures alike. Based on its contribution to the world's lore, as well as the overall greatness of the story, here are Sumeru's most notable side quests.

10 The Path Of Papers

How far would you go to avoid unfinished homework? Here, Alrani isn't trying to stave off a simple piece of homework, but her graduate thesis. If you're a graduate student yourself, or in the process of crafting your thesis, you will be sympathetic to Alrani's struggles.

Conversely, you might find yourself laughing at the way she ran away from her responsibilities by hiring treasure hoarders to "hold her hostage". This story has a good amount of dark humor, but it's nice to cross paths with our researcher friend who we met in Inazuma — even if her situation isn't ideal.

9 Vimana Agama

If you've been curious about the Ruin Golem at Devantaka Mountain, this quest gives you the opportunity to operate it from within. You'll get a glimpse of Khaenrian technology in this small task, and meet Jazari (who takes a lot of credit for your work) along the way.

But it's not about the accomplishments, and all about the journey, right? While that's debatable, we at least get more insight into the state of the Akademiya, as well as see the inner workings of this old robot that's been sitting around and gathering moss.

8 The Secret Of Al-Ahmar

The main quest line is Dreams Beneath The Searing Sand, which isn't a long quest, but is one that will surely leave you with major emotional damage. The journey that gets you to this specific quest unveils a lot of lore about the desert dwellers of Sumeru, as well as the biases of Akademiya members against them.

This is also the quest where we meet our friends Jeht and Jebrael, and their mechanical pet Benben. Aside from having an amazing story, there are also lots of puzzles to be solved, and rewards to be taken from this quest.

7 Dune-Entombed Fecundity

Following Jeht's story, Dune-Entombed Fecundity is part of the Dirge of Bilqis World Quest series, and this specific part unfolds pretty fast. You discover that Azariq isn't all that he appears to be, and that certain members of the Tanit Tribe that adopted Jeht are doing shady deals with the Fatui.

The angst of betrayal is present here, and you will find yourself feeling sorry for Jeht since the world doesn't seem to be so kind to her. At least we can help her out in this quest and make life a bit lighter for her.

6 The Eternal Dream, Ever Lush

Still part of the Dirge of Bilqis quest line, this substory is a breath of respite from all the drama previously mentioned. This is the Eternal Oasis that the Al-Ahmar has been hellbent on locating, and many have died just to see the golden slumber that awaits them.

The place is frozen in time, with birds at a standstill and waters that you can walk on top of without sinking. It's a paradise for sure, and Jeht is able to bring what remains of her loved ones to this beautiful and quiet place.

5 Her Foes Rage Like Great Waters

This quest is not short of drama, and you'll find yourself asking if there's anybody left that you can entrust Jeht to but yourself. Upon acquiring the Jinni Liloupar in the Dirge of Bilqis, you make an enemy who is determined to kill you and take the Jinni for themselves.

The story is revolting, to say the least, and you'll feel angry for your friend. It's a bittersweet journey, and it puts an end to all the desert-related quests with Jeht for now. But now that the desert no longer welcomes Jeht, we can only wonder what's in store for her now.

4 A Prayer For Rain On The Fecund Land

A Prayer For Rain On The Fecund Land is part of the notoriously long Aranara quest line, but this particular portion of it gives us an answer as to what happens once an Aranara uses up its powers. Our four friends Aranakula, Arapandu, Arakunti, and Arabalika help us with their different powers in this quest.

At what cost does that come, though? You'll have to see for yourself, but magic doesn't come for free. Once an Aranara pushes the extent of their powers, there is also an equally great price to pay for it — but we're glad that they're still okay.

3 Aranakin's Old Friend

Aranakin is one of our lovely Aranara friends, and you'll find their short quest near Chatrakam Cave. You'll need to finish the Aranara quest line, and once you approach them, you'll find out that they no longer remember who you are.

This quest is wholesome, and you'll experience what it's like to be with a friend who has lost their memories. The story also gives you a hint as to how long an Aranara's life can be, as it reveals that Aranakin had a friend that came before you.

2 The Bad Guy In Vimara Village

You might miss out on this story entirely — in fact, you might not choose to confront "Alphonso" at all, since he's well-loved by children and adults alike in Vimara Village. But justice has to be served, and there's no good in keeping somebody dangerous around defenseless people.

The more shocking aspect of this side quest is the abrupt lore drop that comes with it. This NPC reveals his origins, as well as other details about the Fatui which not all of us were privy to. This small detail is easy to overlook, and regardless of how you deal with him in the end, at least you learn something new.

1 For All The Children Who Live A Long Life

You're relieved that you finally get to celebrate Festival Utsava, and you're happy to see the Aranara convene and sing beautifully around you. The Aranara Quest Line is awfully long, but nothing short of great — it provides great context to Sumeru as a whole, and to the history of the Aranara.

For All The Children Who Lived A Long Life is the second-to-last part of the story, and it shows the key to defeating Marana's Avatar. It's hard to get attached to anybody or anything else after this story, and you'll find yourself feeling gloomy after its conclusion. For what it's worth, we can at least visit Arama in Old Vanarana and play music for them there.
