Some quests in Genshin Impact are simple and will follow a linear structure. However, in a game with so many little details like this one, the fact that there are hidden objectives you can complete for even more rewards after some quests end might not come as a surprise.
Finishing The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes will grant you access to a scavenging-style mini-quest in which you must collect a handful of items. While this will not leave you with any major lore drop, and it doesn't even have any quest indicators, it will still grant you some Primogems upon completion, which is pretty nice.
What Are The Foggy Forest Branches?
A Foggy Forest Branch is a Special Item found in some locations around the Erinnyes Forest. There are six branches you can collect to exchange for rewards.
Although Pahsiv, a quest-specific NPC, will be the one to ask you to find the branches, they are not tied to any quests.
You can collect them at any time, though you will have to complete the world quest, The Wild Fairy of Erinnyes, to exchange them with her for a reward.
Once you have collected all six branches, you can take them to Pahsiv in the hidden cave in Loch Urania to exchange them for the following rewards:
Reward
Quantity
Primogem
x40
Guide to Equity
x3
Varunada Lazurite Fragment
x3
Xenochromatic Crystal
x6
Mora
x3500
Foggy Forest Branch West Of Loch Urania
The first Foggy Forest Branch is easily accessible via the Teleport Waypoint west of Loch Urania. The Waypoint is right by the hill you will need to climb.
Get to the top of the hill and activate the time-trial challenge mechanism.
After you complete the challenge, in which you will have to collect ten Hydro particles within a 45-second time limit, an exquisite chest will appear; the branch will be inside.
Foggy Forest Branch South Of Loch Urania
The second Foggy Forest Branch is in a small pool south of the lake. You can reach this location by fast-traveling to the Teleport Waypoint between Loch Urania and the Weeping Willow of the Lake, then heading south.
You could also try to glide from the top of the mountain if you'd like. However, this will take significantly more time than using the Waypoint.
You will need to solve a puzzle in this lake for a Precious Chest holding the Foggy Forest Branch to spawn. The puzzle has a few mechanisms, like a Hydro core pedestal, Water Volume Detection Crystals, and a switch.
Follow these steps to solve the puzzle:
- Grab the Hydrograna that is just outside the lake.
- Approach the water's edge and dip yourself just a little bit, being very careful not to fall in.
- When the Hydrograna has grown, and you see a ring enveloping your character, proceed to install the Hydro core on the pedestal above the little pool.
- Activate the switch.
- The Water Volume Detection Crystals will start rotating. While they are in motion, only three will light up at a time.
- Wait until all Crystals are within water's range; two will be completely submerged underwater, and two will be within the AoE of the Hydrocore.
- Hit the switch again so the Crystals will stop at the right time.
When all four Crystals are lit, the chest will spawn.
Foggy Forest Branch Underground
This Foggy Forest Branch is in a secret location underground that can only be accessed through a portal. The portal is hidden within a small pool of water.
To get to the starting point, you can head to the Teleport Waypoint east of the Weeping Willow of the Lake and then head northeast from there.
You will quickly reach a small pool surrounded by a bunch of dilapidated house ruins and many Pyro slimes throughout the area.
The pool is not originally clean. Instead, there will be two self-healing Contaminated Bacterial Mats moving along the water's surface.
Find the Machine with Xenochromatic Ball Octopus abilities that is by the water and interact with it to gain its abilities.
This is the only attack that will work against these Contaminated Bacterial Mats because their self-healing abilities are exceedingly fast.
The big tumor will strike back, so you might want to protect yourself with a shield to avoid being interrupted. Otherwise, it might heal while you try to recover and cast again.
Attack the tumors until they've vanished, and the water will clear out. Only then will you be able to dive into the pool and use the vortex-like portal to access the underground area.
The Foggy Forest Branch is within an Exquisite Chest.
You can leave this area through the well and even grab a Hydro Oculus in the process.
Foggy Forest Branch Southeast Of The Weeping Willow Of The Lake
This Foggy Forest Branch is also in a small pool; these are abundant in this area of Fontaine.
You can get to this location by fast traveling to the Teleport Waypoint southeast of the Weeping Willow of the Lake area and then descending further southeast along the mountainous terrain.
Be ready to fight four treasure hoarders in this location.
The Foggy Forest Branch location is locked behind a Potential Energy Orb mechanism that is just a little further east from the pool.
Interact with the Machine with Xenochromatic Ball Octopus abilities to launch the Energy Ball to the pool.
Once the ball lands in the area marked by a ring with a bright star in the middle, you will be able to swim into the pool and enter a small, vortex-like portal that will teleport you to the site of a shipwreck somewhere closer to Lumidouce Harbor.
Swim through the ship's window to claim a Precious Chest with the Foggy Forest Branch inside.
Return through the vortex to gain easier access to the next location.
Foggy Forest Branch In The Shipwreck Vault
This Foggy Forest Branch is located within a shipwreck, serving as a treasure hoarder vault. The complex part, however, is that the Precious Chest containing the branch is locked behind a gate requiring three keys.
All three keys can be found within this same shipwreck area.
These are their locations in order:
Key
Location
Simple Vault Key I
At the very top of the shipwreck. It is easily confused with a nest that is also up there, but there is a spot that gives you the "Investigate" prompt when you approach it, and there you will find the key.
Simple Vault Key II
Inside a Common Chest resting on the same broken vessel. It unlocks after you defeat all the nearby treasurehoarders. There are about five of them in that area.
Simple Vault Key III
Slightly east of the shipwreck. The key is buried in a small box in the sand. The easiest way to tell if it's the right spot is if you can see three worn wood crates just lying around and a fake Sweet Flower in the middle of these crate formations.
Once you have gathered the keys, you may simply open the vault and claim the Precious Chest along with the Foggy Forest Branch.
Foggy Forest Branch North Of The Foggy Forest Path
The sixth and final Foggy Forest Branch is in yet another little pool. You can quickly gain access to it by fast traveling to the Teleport Waypoint in the Foggy Forest Path and heading north from there.
The branch is locked inside a Pneuma-aligned box underwater in that very pool.
To break it and free the Exquisite Chest containing the branch, you can either use an Ousia-aligned character like Lynette, or grab the Ousia block that is inside the Huge Shell sitting on the shore.
Just dive, break the box, open the chest, and claim your branch.
Once you have collected all six branches, you may hold onto them if you haven't finished the Wild Fairy of Erinnyes quest, or head back to Pahsiv's cave and give her the branches.
