7 Utilize The Right Elemental Reactions

Characters in Genshin Impact are divided into seven distinct elements: Pyro, Cryo, Hydro, Electro, Dendro, Anemo, and Geo, and mixing different elements will trigger Elemental Reactions, which varying effects that can help you in battle:

When fighting challenging enemies, make sure to trigger Elemental Reactions to give you the upper hand in battle and significantly increase your DMG output. Elemental Reactions scale off of the Elemental Mastery stat, so the more EM you have, the more potent your reactions will be.

6 Build A Team That Works Well Together

Aside from possessing different elements that can trigger Elemental Reactions, your characters also have unique kits that determine the role that they play in your team. Characters can either be the main DMG dealer, off-field DMG dealer, element applicator, DMG buffer, or defensive options.

Know which characters perform which roles and pair them together to create an effective team. For example, if you want to build a team that’s centered around the Vaporize reaction, you’ll need a Hydro character (Xingqiu) to consistently apply Hydro, a Pyro character (Xiangling) to deal high Vaporize DMG, a support (Sucrose) that can increase your characters’ DMG, and a defensive option (Bennett) that can heal or shield your characters from danger.

5 Make Use Of Elemental Resonance

When you have at least two characters of the same element in your team, you can trigger an Elemental Resonance. These are a set of effects that increase your entire team’s stats and will not go away no matter what:

  • Pyro - Increases ATK by 25 percent.
  • Hydro - Increases Max HP by 25 percent.
  • Electro - Triggering Superconduct, Overloaded, Electro-Charged, Quicken, Aggravate, or Hyperbloom have a one hundred percent chance to generate an Electro Elemental Particle (CD: 5 seconds).
  • Cryo - Increases CRIT Rate against enemies that are Frozen or affected by Cryo by 15 percent.
  • Anemo - Decreases Stamina Consumption by 15 percent. Increases Movement SPD by ten percent. Shortens Skill CD by five percent.
  • Geo - Increases shield strength by 15 percent. Additionally, characters protected by a shield will have the following special characteristics: DMG dealt increased by 15 percent, and dealing DMG to enemies will decrease their Geo RES by 20 percent for 15 seconds.
  • Dendro - Elemental Mastery increased by 50. Triggering Dendro reactions further increases Elemental Mastery by 50 for six seconds.

Make use of Elemental Resonance to effortlessly gain a cheap stat boost, which in turn will increase your character’s DMG. When building your team, it’s recommended to get a character that matches the element of your DMG dealer so they can obtain Elemental Resonance of their element.

4 Learn The Proper Rotations For Your Team

While your gameplay is completely up to you, knowing the order of when to use your characters’ skills and buffs can help you deal more DMG and defeat enemies faster. This can be more effective compared to throwing random skills whenever they’re available, and can also sometimes mess with your Elemental Reactions and skill cooldowns.

These characters aren't meant to take the spotlight but can still shine as off-field DPS units in Genshin Impact!

For example, in a team composed of Hu Tao, Zhongli, Xingqiu, and Yelan, the rotation goes like this:

  • Hold Zhongli's shield to protect your team from DMG and shred Elemental RES.
  • Use Xingqiu's Skill and Burst, followed by Yelan's Skill and Burst so they can apply Hydro while Hu Tao is on the field.
  • Use Hu Tao's Skill to increase her ATK based on her HP and spam her Charged Attacks. You can use her Burst after using her Skill.

3 Know Which Stats Your Characters Scale With

Most characters in general will deal DMG based on their ATK stat, so the higher their ATK, the higher the DMG output. However, there are unique cases where characters can scale with other stats, such as HP, DEF, EM, and ER.

Aside from increasing your stats, make sure to increase your characters' necessary Talent levels as well.

It’s important to read your characters’ skill descriptions to know which stats they want, and which ones are useless. Characters like Alhaitham and Neuvillette scale with EM and HP respectively, so they would much rather want buffs from Nahida or Hydro Resonance instead of the ATK buff from Bennett or Noblesse Oblige.

2 Fix Your CRIT Ratio

Characters in Genshin Impact can deal Critical Hits, which deal an increased amount of DMG. The probability of an attack to CRIT depends on your CRIT Rate, while the amount of DMG it deals will depend on your CRIT DMG.

A mistake that you shouldn’t make when building your characters is stacking too much CRIT DMG and forgetting about CRIT Rate. Having high CRIT Rate allows you to deal CRIT Hits much more often, leading to steady and consistent DMG, as such, it’s important to have at least a 60 to 70 percent CRIT Rate before building into CRIT DMG.

Use the 1:2 ratio when determining your CRIT stats. This means your CRIT DMG should be at least double the amount of your CRIT Rate or more. For example, 70:140.

1 Make Sure You Have Enough Energy Recharge

Each character has an Elemental Burst that can aid you greatly in battle, with some providing high DMG, healing, or buffs. To use an Elemental Burst, your characters need to have enough Energy, which you can gain through collecting Energy Particles.

The amount of Energy that your characters gain from Energy Particles may vary, and that depends on their Energy Recharge stat.

When building your characters, look out for Energy Recharge in your artifacts as well, as some character’s Elemental Burst have Burst cost, as not having your Bursts ready when you need them can put you at a disadvantage. With enough Energy, you’re able to comfortably use your Elemental Bursts every time you need them, which allows you to deal more DMG and defeat enemies faster.
