We All Know GTA 6 Is Going To Sell Well, But One Insider Is Predicting It'll Make A Staggering $1 Billion In The First Hour Of Pre-Orders
A reliable insider has predicted that Grand Theft Auto 6 could make $1 billion from its upcoming pre-orders in just the first hour, and that it would be an "easy" task.
With how little Rockstar has actually shown us about GTA 6 since it was first announced, it's no surprise that we all still have a lot of questions about it, from its price to how the dual character gameplay will work. There's one thing that pretty much no one in the world has questioned in all that time, though, and that's whether GTA 6 will be a success.
Even with a smaller console market than previous GTA games have had to work with, the power of both Rockstar and GTA means that Jason and Lucia's journey through Leonida is all but guaranteed to be a massive hit. Our first taste of that is bound to come when pre-orders start in a few days, and one insider even predicts an "easy" $1 billion in the first hour alone.
Tom Henderson Thinks GTA 6 Will Make A Billion In Its First Hour Of Pre-Orders
I Don't Even Doubt It At This Point
As pointed out by RockstarINTEL, Insider Gaming's editor-in-chief, Tom Henderson, recently discussed how much money Rockstar might make from GTA 6's pre-orders on the latest episode of the Insider Gaming Podcast. After highlighting GTA 6's potential to sell consoles, Henderson points out that GTA 5 was able to make $1 billion in profit in three days back when its pre-orders opened.
With that figure in mind, Henderson suggests that it'll be "easy" for GTA 6 to make $1 billion from its pre-orders in just its first hour, noting that this is more of a "cultural event" than a game launch. While that does seem frankly unbelievable for any game, let alone one that's launching in a rough time for the industry, GTA 6 is easily the most anticipated game of all time and basically free to do whatever it wants.
Of course, how much money GTA 6 manages to make in that first hour will depend on how expensive it is, which one retailer might have given us our first hint at earlier today.
If Rockstar smartly releases Trailer 3 alongside the pre-orders to get people even more excited, there's a very good chance that the momentum pushes GTA 6 to an even higher level of hype than ever before. To be fair, there have been tons of reports over the past few years about just how much money GTA 6 is likely to make, with one investment bank even suggesting 46 million copies sold on day one.
