Fortnite is no longer just a battle royale game anymore, that much is clear. Over the past year, Epic Games has been offering up more and more varying experiences in Fortnite to try and expand the range of activites players can partake. Fortnite Festival is a prime example - a mode similar to that of Rock Band that lets players use their Fortnite characters to play songs - as is Lego Fortnite, the game's survival mode that became extremely popular upon launch.
Clearly happy with their previous collaboration, Lego and Fortnite have now teamed up once again to announce Lego Islands, a new experience that brings Roblox-esque worlds to Fortnite. These islands have been created with the intention of creating some family-friendly worlds based on childhood memories of the game's own developers, the first two being Lego Raft Survival and Lego Obby Fun.

Fortnite's history is fascinating, but we need it collected in one place.
PostsWe'll start with Lego Raft Survival, which has a few similar survival elements to the Lego mode, as players will need to collect resources such as wood and treasure in order to survive the barrage of cannonballs coming from Blackbeard's nearby ship. The water surrounding your little island/raft is also pretty perilous, so don't go think you can swim away from your troubles.
We’re thrilled to introduce players to the first of our creative and fun LEGO Islands series of play experiences within Fortnite. We can’t wait to introduce even more as the year goes on – this is only the beginning! - Kari Vinther Nielsen, Head of Play & Creator Growth at Lego Game
If that's not your kind of thing, there's also Lego Obby Fun, which is much more of a typical, Roblox-esque obstacle course, full of roadblocks and climbing sections that will require quick-thinking to overcome. Each player will spawn on a random section of the course, meaning that you should get a different piece each time you try out the mode.
Both of these islands are currently available to play right now, and are the first of a series of similar experiences coming to Fortnite throughout 2024. Each one can be played solo or in a group of up to four friends, and are compatible with your Lego Styles, so you can run around each Island as your favorite character.
We don't quite know if Lego is working with Epic Games on more of these bitesize Lego Islands to be added in the future, but it has been confirmed that it will "unveil several more LEGO-themed experiences" throughout the course of the year and beyond, so there's plenty to look forward to.
