How To Change Your Display Name
Your Epic Games display name is how people will see you in every game you play with your account.
Make sure that it abides by community standards to avoid action against you.
In Fortnite, your display name can either be your Epic Games username if you're on a PC or your console ID if you're playing through one of those services. Depending on which platform your account is tied to, you may need to access your Epic Games account online or change your Xbox Gamertag or PlayStation username.
You won't be able to change your Epic Games name until you've verified your email address.
To change your Epic Games username, you'll need to go through the publisher's official website, where you can also connect your Epic Games account to any console platform.
If you connect your Epic Games account to your console's account, you'll be able to track your Fortnite progress on any device, but your username will remain the same.
You can do this if you log in to the Epic Games website and click the 'Apps and Accounts' section on your account.
How To Change Your Epic Games Display Name
On the Epic Game's website, you can hover over the image or initials for your account on the top right of the screen. Once the menu opens, as shown in the screenshot, click the 'Account' option to open your settings and see your personal information.
When you open your account page, you'll notice your Display Name under the 'Account Information' page. Click the blue box with a pen and pad in it to change your display name.
You'll be prompted by the pop-up above that has a box for your new name and the conditions for changing your display name. This includes a two-week restriction until you'll be able to change your display name again, as well as the requirements.
How To Change Display Name On Console
When playing on a console, your Display Name in Fortnite will always be the online ID assigned to that platform. However, when you play crossplay through Epic Games, yourfriends on any platform can see your Epic Games account as long as it's connected to that console's services.
To change your display name in Fortnite on a console, you'll need to go through that platform's services. However, whether you're changing your Online ID on PlayStation or replacing your Xbox Gamertag, you should be aware that each console offers some limitations and warnings before you can do so.
For example, PlayStation warns that any legacy content on PS4, including purchases and saves, could be voided or disappear if you change your name.
Both Xbox and PlayStation will charge you to change your username after the first time, so make sure that you've picked one that you can stick with to avoid unnecessary fees.
You can change either platform's username online or through the console itself, which offers an immediate option. Be warned that you may need to follow some verification steps in some cases, which can make the process take a little longer.
