In any game with player classes, the question will inevitably be asked: what is the best way to play each class? Competition naturally breeds the creation of a meta, and in the case of Flesh and Blood, the hero you choose means everything to how well you do.

What puts a hero above others in their class is their options for responding to opponent strategies — sometimes, a hero can be great in specific cases but fail to be the best thanks to their niche effects. At the end of the day, any hero is playable, but the best are the ones that can ensure that their gameplans reach completion.

12 Runeblade - Briar, Warden Of Thorns And Chane

Briar, Warden of Thorns is only 40 points off from going Living Legend — needless to say, she isn't just the best Runeblade, she's the best of the current meta. Her elemental earth effects let her play aggro with overwhelming attacks, letting her dominate the competition.

Chane is currently the best you'll get when trying to build for Blitz. Thanks to his ability to go again at the cost of a card, Chane can exert superior control during his turns. This ability isn't restricted to attack actions, so anything that fits his criteria can be used for his plans.

11 Guardian - Oldhim, Grandfather Of Eternity And Oldhim

Oldhim is the best Guardian in both Classic Constructed and Blitz, being a hero that excels at hunkering down and preventing as much damage as possible, returning fire with singular, powerful blows.

His built-in defense effect is made even more powerful when paired with Crown of Seeds, providing a damage reduction of three for cheap. This pairing punishes Aggro players that mindlessly attack, ignoring their damage and delivering meteoric blows that force them to choose between blocking and saving cards critical to their win condition.

10 Brute - Rhinar, Reckless Rampage And Rhinar

Rhinar's synergy with most cards in the Brute class puts him over his contemporaries, allowing for nearly every card in his arsenal to obtain the Intimidate keyword. This temporarily banishes a random card from your opponent's hand while you attack, limiting their choices when defending and stifling their plans.

It's for this reason that Rhinar is the best of the best in both Classic Constructed and Blitz, depriving opponents of defense while maintaining his own thanks to the mildly defensive cards typical to his class. Even when he doesn't have Intimidate, Rhinar's survivability makes him the nuisance of any Aggro hero.

9 Illusionist - Dromai, Ash Artist And Prism

Unfortunately, Dromai wins by default when it comes to Classic Constructed Illusionists — Prism reached Living Legend, making Dromai the only legal member of the class in the format. Nonetheless, her Dragon Allies work well for both Aggro and Setup decks.

In Blitz, Prism is the clear victor when it comes to game-winning ability, as her all-purpose auras are powerful and immune to on-hit effects. (As long as Dromai's companions remain vulnerable to on-hits, Assassins, Ninjas, and Rangers will always have a staggering advantage in matchups.)

8 Warrior - Dorinthea Ironsong And Dorinthea

Despite the recent Boltyn buffs, Dorinthea still manages to sit at the top of the Warrior class thanks to the many ways she can be built, allowing her to be an overwhelming Setup for standard Aggro decks.

If you use her unique weapon, you can force an opponent to choose between blocking and retaining cards, as if they don't shut down its effect, things will snowball to the point that she can't be stopped. Considering that your weapon is just one part of your deck, you have the flexibility to control the pace of the game.

7 Ranger - Lexi, Livewire And Lexi

Though Lexi's domination in both major formats may seem like a no-brainer, Outsiders has made the other two Rangers good enough that her reign may soon be over. Regardless, the current meta still favors the hybrid nature of her elemental effects.

If built right, Lexi's arsenal effect can threaten huge damage and slow down enemy turns, your intentions obfuscated until the moment they're acted on. This unpredictability can force opponents to use powerful cards like Command and Conquer to destroy your arsenal, wasting their resources as you move closer to your end goal.

6 Ninja - Katsu, The Wanderer And Ira, Crimson Haze

Katsu remains an exemplar of the Classic Constructed format, being one of the best decks to play if you're trying to break into Aggro. His death-by-one-thousand-cuts playstyle works off the Combo keyword, which has been buffed thanks to the Outsiders expansion.

In Blitz, though, Katsu is quickly shown up by Ira, Crimson Haze; though Katsu allows for a decent bit more deck control, Ira sticks to the simple gameplan of buffing the Ninja's consistent damage, turning a slight rain of blows into a torrential damage downpour.

5 Wizard - Iyslander, Stormbind And Iyslander

Regarding the Wizard class, it's no contest: Iyslander just has too many synergies to be toppled from her place at the top. She's fairly close to obtaining Living Legend status in both formats, something that no other Wizard can say at the moment.

Michael Hamilton's huge Iyslander win at the World Championship showed just how oppressive her effects could be. Cards like Aether Icevein, which are only accessible to her, can force opponents into situations where they lose a resource no matter what they do.

4 Mechanologist - Dash, Inventor Extrordinaire And Dash

The pool of Mechanologist heroes is unfortunately small, with Dash being the only one available for Classic Constructed, joined only by one other for Blitz. Regardless, Dash is the hero of choice for all formats thanks to Data Doll MKII's lower Intellect.

Dynasty's Boost cards and expensive Nitro Mechanoid equipment have given Dash a major buff, offering staggering damage that has placed her closer and closer towards Living Legend in both of the major formats. Though she does win the Mechanologist race by default, she's still a menace to face in the Flesh and Blood arena.

3 Assassin - Uzuri, Switchblade And Uzuri

Though the Assassin class is still relatively new, Uzuri's unique effect adds a new wrinkle to it that trumps its original design by quite a bit. It hasn't seen competitive play yet, but Uzuri's gameplan makes her a silent killer that suits the nature of her class.

Able to replace cards on the Chain that have the Stealth keyword on with a card from her hand, Uzuri maintains a level of control in any fight that transcends Arakni's contracts. This effect essentially creates scenarios where opponents must guess whether you'll use it, making them waste resources to block stealth moves that you weren't going to replace.
