In an interview with TheGamer, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that Tifa and Scarlet's iconic slap fight will appear and be treated with "the care that it deserves".

There were a ton of big reveals during yesterday's Summer Game Fest showcase but, as long as you're not a massive TMNT nerd like me, the best was definitely saved for last. To round out the show, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's third and final part was finally revealed and properly showcased as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.

We learned a lot about Revelation from the reveal trailer and its gameplay showcase, but even more about the game has come out thanks to the game's director, Naoki Hamaguchi. In an interview about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Switch 2 port that will be published soon, Hamaguchi shared some information about Revelation, including an interesting tidbit about Tifa and Scarlet's beloved showdown.

Tifa And Scarlet Will Slap Fight In Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, And It's Clearly A Big Moment

The Scene We've All Been Waiting For Is Getting The "Care It Deserves"

For as long as the Final Fantasy 7 remake games have been around, fans of the original have been looking forward to seeing adapted, with one of the biggest being Tifa and Scarlet's slap fight minigame. This scene appears towards the end of the original FF7, and fans have been dying to know how it'll appear in the third game.

Hamaguchi has previously confirmed that the slap fight will end up in the remake trilogy, but he went into a bit more detail on it in a recent interview with TheGamer. When asked about all of the easter eggs in the first two parts that hint at things to come, Hamaguchi said that the team is "very conscious" about their inclusion and what should and shouldn't be shown just yet.

That includes the homage to Tifa and Scarlet's slap fight, which Hamaguchi notes that a lot of fans likely saw coming and thought, "this is definitely leading up to that moment" after the interactions between the two. The director says that "of course" the showdown is in Revelation, and that it's "depicted with the care that it deserves".

Interestingly, this interview was conducted before the announcement of Revelation, as Hamaguchi just refers to the game as "the third installment". He was clearly ready to talk more about it, knowing that an announcement was inbound.

From the sounds of it, Tifa and Scarlet's slap fight is going to be a bit grander than it was in the original game, as Hamaguchi makes it clear that it's been paid direct attention. Hopefully, it still remains as a minigame, as I think we can all agree that Scarlet has had it coming for a very long time.
