In fact, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth might already surpass the original in sheer number of minigames. Every single region in the game is crammed with them, and sure, you actually have to do quite a few of them for the story, but at last they're great. But how many are there? Well let's find out.

With how packed Rebirth is with unique gameplay moments, minigames are typically classed as either having considerable depth or repeatable for the sake of this article.

How Many Minigames Are Region-Specific?

Many of the minigames in Rebirth are custom-built around the context of the region they're played in. You won't find jumping dolphins in the Grasslands or flying Chocobos in Corel.

Many of these minigames are once-off encounters, restricted to side missions or the main story, so make sure to enjoy them while they last.

Grasslands

Functioning more as a tutorial area, the Grasslands only has one unique minigame, and even it is more a tutorial than a full-fledged minigame.

Hustle de Chocobo has you racing around Bill's Ranch, running through checkpoints and trying to clear the course in the fastest time possible

Junon

The first taste of the fullness of the game's open world, the Junon region brings a much larger variety of minigames with it, from story-exclusive ones to others that you play at your lesiure.

Jumpfrog

Playing as a frog, leap over the obstacles on the rotating platform to avoid being hit.

Dolphin Show

Hang on to Junon's friendly Dolphin and gather speed while popping balloons to reach the finish line in record time.

Fort Condor

Choose your troops and advance along the battlefield to destroy the enemy bases while defending your own.

Junon's minigames give you a little taste of everything, from the frankly hilarious to actually meticulously designed board games. It has a total of four minigames.

Corel, Costa del Sol, And The Gold Saucer

Not only is Corel the biggest region in the game by far, it also comes with both Costa del Sol and the Gold Saucer, two locations famed for their minigames. With that in mind, prepare yourself for an unreasonably large amount of minigames ahead.

As Tifa, show off your abs of steel by pressing the buttons in time with Tifa's animations.

Cactuar Crush

After being guided by Cactuar statues to their keys, defeat magic and physical cactuars in record time as either Yuffie or Aerith.

Swindlers

While locked away in the Dustbowl, explore around to find the lie in the Master Swindler's students' stories.

Desert Rush

As Cloud, destroy boxes in this obstacle course under the time limit, racking up higher scores as you go.

Barret's Shooting Range

During certain story segments, take aim with Barret to destroy any obstacles and enemies in your path, be they minecarts or Shinra's minions.

Chocobo Racing

In the Gold Saucer, choose your favourite Chocobo and get them saddled up for races against the region's best jockeys.

G-Bike

Recalling Cloud's escape from Midgar, drive your motorcycle down the highway, mowing down enemies and avoiding obstacles as you go.

3D Brawler

As a polygonal Cloud, learn your opponents tells so you can pummel them with ease and finish them off with a well-timed Limit Break.

Galactic Saviors

Bring yourself back to the days of on-rails arcade shooters, piloting a space fighter while gunning down every enemy on-screen.

Loveless

During the story, recreate a virtual rendition of Loveless, pressing the button prompts on time and choosing the course of how the play turns out.

Corel is basically the home of minigames in Rebirth, with the vast majority very reasonably being housed within the Gold Saucer. In total, there are 13 minigames in the Corel region.

Gongaga

Gongaga is a quiet region, a lush jungle with a sparse human population doing their best to live off the land. As such, the number of minigames in the region is pretty minuscule too.

Mushroom Picking

Pick out some delicious mushrooms for soup by giving them a wiggle and yanking it out in order of least resistance.

With only two minigames unique to the region, Gongaga is a quiet one indeed. At least it's Chocobo can grind on trees.

Cosmo Canyon

Home to the beliefs of Planetology and a beautifully clear view of the sky, Cosmo Canyon also has a few nifty minigames to be played.

Deftly guide your Chocobo through the flying rings of the canyon, careful never to touch the ground until you cross the finish line.

Gears And Gambits

Set up your little robochad and dive into the lifestream, defeating the impurities within through pre-set actions.

Vibrodetector

As part of a side quest, navigate the canyon in search of the strongest vibrations, defeating the powerful Dune Worm at the end.

Though Cosmo Canyon has only a handful of minigames unique to the region, two of the three minigames can be repeated whenever you want.

Nibelheim

Unlike every other region in the game, Nibelheim actually has no unique minigames. It has plenty of its own unique features, such as the Water Chocobos, though there are only shared minigames otherwise.

With all of the region-exclusive minigames out of the way, we can focus on the minigames that are instead shared across the whole game.

There's only a handful of them, but each is packed with plenty of depth to keep you coming back for more.

Queen's Blood

The first valid contender to Triple Triad. Traverse the vast world in search of new cards and opponents, dominating them with your skillfully crafted decks.

Moogle Mischief

Find the mogstools in each region, rounding up the mischievous moogles into their play pen while avoiding their increasingly powerful attacks.

Chocobo Intel

Across various regions, search out a new Chocobo to ride, sneaking towards its location and distracting its fellow by throwing rocks.

Photography

Though it is employed differently in many quests, whip out your camera and find the subject in question, trying to get it as perfectly recreated as you can. You can even save it as a screenshot!

That gives us five minigames playable in every region. They each have depth to their mechanics and can be played whenever you want, wherever you want.
