11 Shinra Avian
The Shinra Avian gear is some of the first that you can acquire for your first chocobo, and while it will increase its stats quite a bit, every other piece of gear in the game completely outclasses it.
This set is not bad by any means, but by the time you reach the Gold Saucer and are able to participate in chocobo races, you should have even better gear. Plus, do you really want to support a company like Shinra by putting their gear on your beloved chocobo?

10 Scorpion
Another early-game set, the Scorpion gear, while it does not give you an overall boost to your stats as the Shinra Avian set, its familiar design will win over plenty of people who played Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
If you are looking for a fast gear set, the Scorpion gear will add two more charges to the dashes you can stockpile and won’t slow you down if the speed is too much for you to handle. This way, you won't end up on the grassy areas of the tracks.
