The Dragon King once again has access to Gigaflare, a devastating beam that will decimate anyone unlucky enough to be caught in its path. His powerful attacks can aid you in your journey to defeat Sephiroth, but only after you vanquish him in Chadley's combat simulator. Adding Bahamut to your Materia stash should be a top priority, provided you can survive his challenge.

Bahamut Arisen Divine Intel Locations

You'll be able to challenge Bahamut Arisen as soon as you enter the Cosmo Canyon region in Chapter 10. While you can jump into the simulator and attempt to take him on right away, you'll be able to severely weaken him by analyzing the region's Divine Intel. Each summon crystal analyzed will reduce the difficulty of Bahamut Arisen's boss fight, and upgrade the summon Materia you will eventually receive.

A Chocobo is required to get all of Bahamut Arisen's Divine Intel. Complete the side quest "Bonds of Trust" at the Cosmo Chocobo Ranch before continuing!

Divine Intel One

The first summon crystal is simple and to the point. Head south of the Cosmo Chocobo Ranch and you will come across a ramp that you can glide off of. Use your newly acquired steed to jump off the edge, and you will glide gracefully into a cave housing Bahamut's first piece of intel.

Divine Intel Two

Intel Two is found in another cave, this time in the northwest corner of the region. No frills with this one; navigate up the terrain to the map marker, and you're one step closer to recruiting Bahamut Arisen.

Divine Intel Three

If the first two crystals were walks in the park, the third is comparatively a lot trickier. It's on top of a tall cliff right next to a deep valley, and you'll need to use your Chocobo's gliding ability to reach it. As you enter the valley, use the various jump points and propellers to continuously ascend as high as you can.

After you've reached a suitable height, locate Activation Intel Six. Glide to it, since it's easy to spot and positioned on the same cliff as the Divine Intel. Once you reach the tower, continue southwest and you will find the final crystal.

Acquiring all the region's Divine Intel will result in you acquiring the most powerful Bahamut Arisen Materia when you beat him. The upgrades are:

  • One crystal analyzed: summon level increased by one.
  • Two crystals analyzed: summon level increased by one.
  • Three crystals analyzed: unlock Umbral Inferno.

How To Defeat Bahamut Arisen

It's finally time to fight Bahamut Arisen. Synergy skills and abilities are the key to taking the dragon down, as they build his stagger meter. They also eliminate the explosive particles he will spawn throughout the arena, so using your team effectively will create both offensive opportunities and defensive protection.

Given that Bahamut requires you to build synergy to pressure him, you should prioritize building ATB and constantly spam your characters' abilities to grant access to these more powerful attacks. Pair Time and Magnify Materia to cast Haste on your entire party, increasing the rate at which they gain ATB and letting them use more abilities.

Making use of Aerith's ATB Ward is also a wise strategy since it will further expedite the process of unleashing synergy attacks.

There is another way to pressure Bahamut Arisen, and that's by damaging his wings. Throughout the battle, he will use an ability called Particle Charge, where he will stand still and expose his wings for a few moments. This is the perfect opportunity to unleash some of your strongest attacks if you don't have enough synergy built up yet, destroying both appendages and increasing Bahamut's stagger gauge.

It's incredibly important to destroy Bahamut Arisen's wings. Doing so will stop Particle Charge, which he uses to change modes (Neodrive and Gigadrive). If you allow him to change modes, he will gain access to Gigaflare, which can easily wipe your party in a single hit.
