PostsAerith's high magic stats and unique abilities allow her to easily switch between damaging enemies and supporting allies. However, her low defense can leave her vulnerable to enemy attacks. Here's how you can best utilize Aerith's magical abilities to set your party up for success and blast through enemies.
Combat Overview
Aerith plays similarly to her appearance in the Remake entry, but she now benefits from a few changes that enhance her magical abilities. As Aerith, press 'Square' to launch basic attacks and 'Triangle' to swiftly teleport away from danger.
These basic attacks are non-elemental magic spells capable of hitting multiple opponents at once from a distance. By holding down 'Square', you'll charge the Tempest attack, which creates a large crystal that hits all nearby enemies and increases stagger.
A fully charged Tempest will also summon a Fleeting Familiar that will float by Aerith's side and attack enemies. The familiar will increase the potency of Aerith's spells until it disappears. It's best to have your familiar active at the start of a fight to have an easier time staggering foes with any equipped magic Materia.
Aerith's 'Triangle' ability is a dodge that can warp her out of harm's way. The Ward Shift will teleport Aerith a short distance to whichever direction she moves. If a Ward is active, she will teleport to the center of the active Ward.
Aerith has two Limit Breaks:
- Healing Wind, a level one Limit Break, has Aerith cast powerful healing magic to restore the party's HP.
- Planet's Protection, a level two Limit Break, has Aerith cast a spell that temporarily nullifies physical damage. This Limit Break can only be used once per battle.
Ward Shift
The Ward Shift ability is imperative to keeping Aerith alive on the battlefield. Ward Shift relies on Aerith's Ward abilities, such as Radiant Ward and Arcane Ward. These Wards can be cast at any party member's location, allowing you to spread Wards throughout the field.
Having multiple Wards active on the field is a great way to increase Aerith's mobility. When multiple Wards are active, Aerith will teleport to the Ward you are moving towards or the Ward she is closest to.
Ward Shift does not activate immediately and will leave Aerith vulnerable for a few moments before she teleports. Once used, this ability will go on cooldown for a few seconds.
