After Cloud, Aerith, and Red XIII take down Custom Valkyrie, you just know trouble's brewing for the rest of the team. Tifa, Barret, and Yuffie have a mess of their own, though this one's more beast than machine - Gigatrice. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is never unfair about doling out the danger between its heroes.

An avian of epic proportions, the Gigatrice has a fondness for killing victims not just with deadly claws, but tornadoes, too. These aren't your garden-variety tornadoes, either. A firm command of the elements is necessary in order to keep safe against this boss, as we'll demonstrate with this guide!

Gigatrice Boss Overview

Gigatrice has two weaknesses: Poison and Fire. Most bosses don't pack a duo of them, and several lack one at all, so this is a nice little refrain. Fira and Biora will be quite beneficial here, though any character abilities with matching elements and airborne capabilities are good.

That last bit is key. Dole out enough damage while it's mid-air to pressure it, which has the much-desired secondary effect of forcing Gigatrice to descend. Keep some Gold Needles or Remedies handy for Petrifying Breath while you're at it!

In our experience, aerial enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are easier to manage when brought low, and Gigatrice is no exception. Pummeling it with its weaknesses is a surefire strategy.

Things take a turn for the complicated further into the fight, however. Once Gigatrice began to call forth cyclones, we weren't able to pressure it in the previous style. Pressuring Gigatrice thus became a matter of imbuing the cyclones with elemental magic.

The cyclones can hurt, of course. In addition to dealing damage, the cyclones will knock your characters back, lining them up in a stupor for the Gigatrice to swiftly descend upon them with physical hits.

Here's the thing, though. The cyclones become Gigatrice's own worst nightmare so long as you do as we mentioned and imbue them with elemental magic. Target them with your spells to change their affinity, which then turns them volatile against Gigatrice itself.

Gigatrice Boss Strategy

Your best friend in the boss fight with Gigatrice in FF7 Rebirth is Yuffie's Elemental Ninjutsu, specifically of the Fire Ninjutsu persuasion. Once she launches her Throwing Star, use an ATB charge to cast Fire Ninjutsu.

Every hit from Yuffie's attacks will target Gigatrice's weakness, pressuring it with ease for the first half of the battle. Follow this up with Haste on another party member who will come equipped with Fira or Poisona to really speed things up.

When the cyclones appear, try to hit each one with an element. Yuffie's Ninjutsu continues to serve us well in this endeavor. Yuffie earns her keep as this chapter's heroine, because she pretty much turns Tifa and Barret into strategic sidekicks for the fight.

Heck, we ended up making Tifa our healer, tossing out Hi-Potions and Mega-Potions aplenty, since Barret's gun-arm has great range against the bird.

Any Synergy Abilities you've unlocked (we had Avalanche Two-Step) will be as useful as ever, so make sure everyone uses a few abilities to boost that meter. This will be easy for Yuffie, but it might not come second-nature for the others.
