Yoshi-P Confuses Every Final Fantasy 14 Fan, Promises A "Big Update" To Jobs But That "Nothing Is Going To Change"

Final Fantasy 14 has a few problems, but one of the more lambasted for quite some time has been job homogenization. Healers have often felt like all their jobs feel exactly the same, while more complicated jobs like Black Mage and Dragoon have gradually had all of their intricacies sanded off over years of patches.
Final Fantasy 14 director Naoki Yoshia (referred to by fans as Yoshi-P) has gone on record in the past, saying that he and his team intend to make jobs feel more unique going forward, though Dawntrail hasn't done much to alleviate any concerns players have had for the past couple of years. It feels like the issue is being kicked down the road, and we're now looking at the next big expansion for those promised job changes.
Final Fantasy 14's Yoshi-P Has Confused Everyone Over Potential Job Rework
However, some new comments from Yoshi-P have cast a bit of doubt over any significant job changes happening soon. In a new interview with PCGamesN (thanks GamesRadar), Yoshi-P reveals that his team is currently "working on a big update" that will attempt to give each job a renewed feeling of uniqueness in future battle content, which sounds exactly like what players have been hoping for.
That's until you keep reading, as Yoshi-P also says that "players who already like the way things are can feel at ease that nothing is going to change for their experience", and this new update will instead "do something new on top of what we already have". That sounds like the exact opposite of what fans want, and we're now in a state of confusion about whether the next expansion is bringing a meaningful change to the job system at all.
It sounds as though Yoshi-P is promising big changes, while also reassuring fans that like the current job system that nothing will change, so you can understand why people might be a bit bemused by these comments. As a Reddit user called _Zepar on one of the many Final Fantasy 14 subreddits quite eloquently puts it — "Now what the f*** does that mean Yoshida?"
