While fishing in Final Fantasy 14 may appear like a laidback, casual activity, going for rare fish is the complete opposite. Monitoring weather patterns, setting alarms, stocking up on bait, and fine-tuning your hooking methods are just a few of the things you need to worry about.

Introduced in Dawntrail are several new Folklore Fish that you can reel in for tons of Scrips, but they aren't always easy to get. Below, we'll take a look at how to unlock these fish, where you can find all of them, and the method used to catch them.

How To Unlock Fisher Folklore Nodes

Before you can start fishing up Folklore Fish, you'll need to unlock them through their respective Folklore Tomes. There are three in total that you can purchase for 1,600 Purple Gatherers' Scrips each, or a total of 4,800 Scrips to get all three. You can buy these from any Scrip Exchange vendor, like the ones in Tuliyollal (X:16.2, Y:11.1), or Solution Nine (X:9.1, Y:13.3).

Here's what each Ichthyological Folklore Tom unlocks.

  • Tome of Ichthyological Folklore - Yok Tural: Urqofrog, Yellow Peacock Bass, Chain Shark
  • Tome of Ichthyological Folklore - Xak Tural: Cloud Wasp
  • Tome of Ichthyological Folklore - Alexandria: Hydro Louvar, Copper Shark

Once you've unlocked these Tomes, you'll need to wait for the Fish to spawn to catch them. Details on all of that are below.
