Final Fantasy 14 Fans Are Finally Starting To Come Around On Dawntrail Thanks To Patch 7.2

Summary
- Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail's reviews on Steam have risen to 'Mixed' following the release of Patch 7.2.
- Dawntrail's endgame battle content appears to be the reason for the change, with fans enjoying the Arcadion raid series in particular.
- With Cosmic Exploration and Occult Crescent on the way, that rating could rise even further, as long as Square Enix can avoid messing things up.
Final Fantasy 14 has been in a tricky spot ever since the release of Dawntrail, with frustrations over the direction of the story, certain characters, and changes to combat all contributing to falling player numbers. Its recent decline has been somewhat overblown, but the lack of things to do for casual players and disappointment with the story are very fair criticisms.
Ever since, Square Enix and Yoshi-P have been attempting to improve things with each patch, and 7.2 appears to have worked better than most. For the first time possibly ever (it's difficult to track), Dawntrail's user reviews on Steam have risen to a 'Mixed' rating, as more positive reviews are being left, or negative reviews are being switched to positive.

Reddit user Spookhetti_Sauce is one such fan, who claimed they recently changed their review from negative to positive thanks to 7.2, and is urging others who share the same feelings to do the same. Of course, there are those that understandably won't budge, as they're either waiting to see if 7.2 is a fluke, or are just too disappointed with Dawntrail's story, but it's a step in the right direction for Square.

Despite what the numbers say, Dawntrail isn’t the worst Final Fantasy XIV expansion.
Posts 17Most of the enjoyment appears to stem from the battle content in this expansion, with the Arcadion raid series being arguably the best in Final Fantasy 14 as a whole. Extremes and Savages have been really fun too (hello MS6 enjoyers), and while not everyone's cup of tea, I think the story is heading in a very interesting direction in 7.2.
With relic weapons, Cosmic Exploration, and Occult Crescent on the way - which should keep the more casual/crafting-focused players occupied - it's possible that Dawntrail could be looked on a bit more favorably when the time for 8.0 finally arrives. Until then, we can only cross our fingers and hope that 7.2 wasn't a fluke after all.
