March isn't very social and tends to keep to himself when you arrive. His words are cold and harsh towards you, but it's only because he's jealous of the attention you receive despite his many accomplishments. Nevertheless, you can become friends and potentially romantic partners if you develop a relationship.
He'll spend most of his day at the smith, but he can be found around town as well. On Friday nights, you'll find him at the bar with the others each week.
Thankfully, giving him gifts doesn't have to be difficult. Once you unlock the mines, you can bring him resources from there to gain affection. March doesn't care about gifts he can't use, so we've listed out the best items to give him each day.
Make sure you talk to March each day to raise your hearts with him!

March's Heart Events
Talking to and giving March gifts daily will raise your relationship level. You can track this in your journal! Every two hearts, a new event will unlock. You'll receive an invitation to meet with March to continue growing your relationship.
As your relationship blooms, you'll learn more about March and his true feelings towards you. Keep an eye on your mailbox for those letters so you can spend time with him!
As of now, there are only two available heart events!
March's Two Heart Event
Once you reach two hearts with March, you'll get a very short letter in the mail. This begins the quest, Surprise Me, where you'll need to meet up with March inside the blacksmith's.
He'll confront you here and be upfront about his feelings. Everyone thinks you, the new farmer, are so cool and helpful. However, he has a few words of doubt to share. Below are your dialogue options for the event.

You can respond in kind to March's attitude or take the high road. At the end of the event, you'll get a Copper Hoe from March as a gift. This way, you can't say he didn't help you.
March's Four Heart Event
After reaching four hearts with March, you'll get a letter in the mail from his older brother, Olric. He invites you to help them out at the forge to complete an order.
This begins the quest Many Hands Make Light Work!
Make your way there to start the event. It becomes increasingly apparent the longer you stay that March was not aware of his brother's request. Below are the dialogue choices for the event.

"March! Belle heard how back up we were and uh... volunteered to help out! Right, buddy?"

"We sure are! Everyone is going to be super happy about this."

"Great work, everyone!"
It's best to go along with Olric in this case, though you can tease March if you'd like. At the end of things, it seems like March might be warming up to you, but only time will tell.
March's Six Heart Event
When you reach six hearts with March, he sends you a letter asking you to drop by the blacksmith workshop when you need some part-time work. When you get there, the orders have piled up. However, a special order takes precedence.
Working together with March, you'll have to create something truly special before the end of the day. Below are your dialogue choices:

During this event, you can get up close and personal with March. While you can tease him for it if you'd like to get a rise out of him, you can also play things cool so that he remains comfortable the entire time.
The important part is getting the shield crafted perfectly, which you can do with March's expertise and guidance!
Regardless of your choices, the outcome is the same and March has a renewed sense of pride.
