Fallout Shelter may seem non-canon due to its cute animations and 2D landscape, but as your Vault Dwellers explore the Wasteland, you'll find several Easter eggs from other games in the franchise. And while you don’t need to have played other Fallout games to appreciate Fallout Shelter, you will need to know at least a little Wasteland history to survive.

Every week, once you’ve unlocked the Overseer’s Office in your Vault, you will have access to the Game Show Gauntlet quest. This quest sends your Dwellers off into the Wasteland to answer trivia questions about the world of Fallout. If you’re successful, you’ll return to the Vault with loads of Caps. If not, you’ll lose your head.

Updated on April 27, 2024, by Eva Csaki: We've updated this guide to give you more possible answers to the weekly Game Show Gauntlet quest.

How To Start The Game Show Gauntlet

Before starting the Game Show Gauntlet, you need to have unlocked and built the Overseer's Office in your Vault and have completed the tutorial quest. After completing the Tutorial quest, you will gain access to all available quests, including the Game Show Gauntlet.

The Game Show Gauntlet is a weekly recurring quest with new trivia questions and answers every week. If you're a long-time Fallout fan, you may already know most or all of the answers to the trivia questions, but sometimes, the questions get a little tricky.

To start the quest, select the quest menu (the map symbol) in the game menu on the right-hand side of your screen. Here, you'll see a list of all the quests you have yet to complete, as well as a tab for previously completed quests.

You can send up to three Vault Dwellers on the Game Show Gauntlet Quest.

Your Vault Dwellers' S.P.E.C.I.A.L. scores won't affect how well you answer the questions. All trivia questions must be answered manually.

Once you've selected your Vault Dwellers and equipped them with outfits, healing items, Pets, and weapons, you can send them on their way.

It can take anywhere from 14-24 hours to reach the quest destination, but you can speed up travel time by using Nuka-Cola Quantum.

The return trip will take half the time it took to reach the destination, and rushing the return trip will also take half the Nuka-Cola Quantum.

You will not automatically begin the Gauntlet. When your Dwellers arrive at the Gauntlet location, you will be prompted to join them. You cannot solve the Gauntlet away from your keyboard.

Join your Dwellers, and you will begin the Game Show Gauntlet.

How To Solve The Game Show Gauntlet

The Game Show Gauntlet consists of four stages of trivia questions. Solving a trivia round correctly will reward you with Caps, but failing to solve the question will trigger combat between your Dwellers and the Raiders hosting the Gauntlet.

Each round consists of a single trivia question about the world and history of Fallout. The answers to these questions come from lore in other games in the franchise.

Each question is multiple choice with four possible answers. You must choose the correct answer to survive the round.

Once you have either passed the stage or defeated all enemy Raiders in the room — depending on the answer you chose — you can proceed to the next room in the Gauntlet.

Some rooms will contain hostile Raiders or other Wasteland enemies not affiliated with the Gauntlet. You cannot bypass combat in these rooms.

Game Show Gauntlet questions all come from the same question pool, but the questions chosen each week will vary based on the duration of the Quest. So, for instance, 16-hour quests will have a different set of questions than 24-hour quests.

Quest duration will vary by player each week and will update seven days from when you completed the last week's quest. So, if you complete the Gauntlet on a Monday, the quest will refresh the following Monday.

We've compiled a list of all the known Gauntlet questions and their answers. Check back each week to find the answer you need.

If you're intentionally trying to gain combat EXP, you can submit the wrong answer to any of the Raiders' questions. Doing so will instantly trigger combat.

You will know you're headed in the right direction — towards the next question — because your Dwellers will say things like, 'This seems right' or 'Yep, this is the right way.'

Your Dwellers will tell you if they believe you are going in the wrong direction. Pay attention to their dialogue!

Game Show Gauntlet Rewards

The main reward you receive from completing the Game Show Gauntlet is Caps, but at the end of each successful run, you may also earn Lunchboxes, Pet Carriers, Weapons Schematics, weapons, Nuka-Cola Quantum, or other valuable prizes.

All of your rewards will be summed up in the 'Return' screen, but any special quest rewards you earn will show up in a pop-up notification upon choosing to leave the quest location.

Additional Information

Not all Raiders in the Gauntlet will have a trivia question for you. Some rooms will contain hostile Raiders who attack you upon entering their space. Killing these Raiders will still reward you with loot.

Other enemies, like Ghouls, Deathclaws, and Radroaches can appear in the Gauntlet, as well. You can loot them in the same way you would loot a slain Raider. Simply click on the glowing corpse.

Additional loot is scattered in rooms around the Gauntlet, and searchable items will shine with little yellow sparkles. As long as you are out of combat, you can click on and loot these items.

You can earn outfits, weapons, junk, Caps, room-theme pieces, and even healing items from searchable containers.

If you find that the combat rooms are too difficult, you can also leave the Gauntlet at any time by clicking the map in the upper right corner and selecting the 'Give Up' button. You won't earn the quest rewards, but you'll be able to leave in a pinch if you're about to lose your head.
