The cost of a room will increase each time you build one, so plan your layout carefully.

Rooms can be upgraded twice to reach level three, where they will be more efficient at producing the corresponding resources.

What Is The Max Room Size?

The maximum room size in Fallout Shelter is three merged rooms, meaning that a standard room will connect to two adjoining rooms of the same type to create one massive room. This enhances efficiency of the corresponding resource produced there.

Some rooms, like the different workshops, only come in the largest size, so you'll need to plan accordingly if you want to place them in your Vault. Others can be upgraded accordingly later on.

How To Merge Rooms

To merge rooms, you'll need to build two of the same type of room right next to each other. They will automatically join together and create one larger room.

The rooms must be at the same level, so try upgrading the new room if it won't join with the previous one.

Merging rooms is a great way to increase efficiency, improve storage, and create more spaces for Vault Dwellers to work.
