Summary

  • A Fallout: New Vegas player has managed to reach New Vegas at Level 1 by gunning it to The Strip.
  • By avoiding enemies and only visiting a few locations for minimal experience, they managed to reach The Strip with nothing but the Vault suit on their back.

A Fallout: New Vegas player has decided to skip half of the game's story by running all the way to New Vegas, keeping themselves at level one the whole way.

Fallout: New Vegas is a pretty well-built game, expertly guiding you on a path to the game's capital city, distracting you with all kinds of interesting quests and stories to experience along the way. It attempts to stop players from taking the quick way to New Vegas, as newcomers to the series have recently discovered, by lining the path with all manner of horrible creatures such as Deathclaws, extremely irritating Cazadors, and murderous drug-fueled slavers.

Fallout fans never back down from a challenge though, and have been successfully managing to bypass Quarry Junction and the horrible monstrosities surrounding it for quite a while. It's not often you find a player that manages to get to New Vegas while completely ignoring the game's leveling system though, but that's precisely what Reddit user American_Femboy has done, posting proof of their achievement on the game's subreddit.

Fallout: New Vegas Player Reaches New Vegas At Level 1

In the post, they explain that the first thing they did upon starting is grab Chance's knife, a particularly powerful melee weapon. While most would use the Stealth-Boy in the Goodsprings school to bypass the Cazadors, they explain that they just used an alternate road to walk around them. After grabbing the weapon, they decided to see how far they could go, with their first stop being a drop in at the Great Khans.

After that, they fled from some fiends on their way to the walls of New Vegas, and then head on over to Camp McCarran. You can access The Strip without having to pay the 2,000 cap entry fee by using the Camp McCarran monorail (something which I didn't even know about until right now), and that's their entire journey from start to finish, which wasn't all that exciting as they explain they didn't run into any enemies.

If you're wondering how they managed to get all that way without leveling up just by getting experience boosts by visiting locations, they explain that each location gives you 10 experience points as they didn't have any perks that boost the amount, and they literally only found a handful of marked locations on their way to The Strip. Sure, they're now incredibly weak, woefully underequipped, and have nothing but the clothes on their back, but a quick trip to the casinos will surely change that.
