In the FTC case over the Microsoft x Activision Blizzard King buyout, an internal Bethesda roadmap was leaked, revealing a few unannounced projects. Among them was a Fallout 3 remaster, which has finally been confirmed alongside another rumored classic.

"We know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences," Todd Howard said, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. "While we're not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas."

Fallout 5 Is Now In Development

Howard confirmed in the same interview that Fallout 5 has entered pre-production and is being developed in conjunction with The Elder Scrolls 6—however, he assured that TES6 remains the "primary development focus," with the majority of the studio's team working on it.

"Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination," Howard said. "And we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now."

One of those projects is the rumored Obsidian Entertainment-developed Fallout, which Howard has finally confirmed. Though there are still no details on what exactly the game will entail. Otherwise, work continues on Fallout 76 with the Raven Rock expansion, a prequel to the Fallout 3 story, and an "unscripted Fallout Shelter television project" made in collaboration with Amazon.

As for how the cuts and "Xbox reset" have impacted Bethesda more broadly, Howard explained that the studio is "bringing our teams closer together" and that "ZeniMax Online Studios will partner closely with Bethesda Game Studios on The Elder Scrolls franchise." Though he assured that work on ESO will continue, promising "incredible new experiences" for the MMO.
