A cute farming sim would be nothing without the pleasantly charming townsfolk who make up the tiny town you move to, and Fae Farm delivers lovable, unique NPCs in spades. With friends to make in each region you unlock in the game, your farmer will never run out of people to talk to!

Friendship in Fae Farm is a little different from in other games of its ilk, though, with restrictions on who actually forms a relationship with you throughout your time in Azoria. In this guide, we’re taking a look at everything that relates to friendliness in Fae Farm.

Not only have we included the locations for the Fae Realm and Mountain NPCs, but we've also added all Fae Farm birthdays to our table as well, to help you keep track of the Calendar.
Fae Farm Friendships, Explained
In the very first chapter of Fae Farm, part of your introduction to Azoria is being tasked with introducing yourself to the townsfolk. Mayor Merritt will send you to a few specific people, but there are plenty more friends to find.
Anyone you speak with will appear in the Relationships tab, which is the photo of two people in the top-right corner of the pause menu.
Here, you can see every friendable NPC and the current status of your relationship with them. This tab also denotes everyone's birthday, to help you deliver gifts on the right days.
For the most part, friendship advances by speaking to each townsperson once per day. You don't have to actually engage them in any chat, but simply stopping to say hello will reward you with a friendship boost.
You can tell when your friendship has increased with someone when you see smiley faces and plus signs above their head when you speak.
You'll alsosee the status of your relationship displayed above their name in the text box.
And as your relationship improves, you'll also see different levels of friendship over the character's heads. This declares that your relationship has moved up another level.
There's actually a quest from Frida at the Inn in the earliest days of the game, in which she tasks you with making at least one friend in exchange for some sweet early-game Florins.
This friend can be anybody from town, so long as your status is set to Friends when you return to Frida.
If any NPC has a yellow exclamation or question mark over their head, they've got a quest to give you.
You have one day to find the item they'd like, and doing so will boost your friendship a bit more for that day, so stop by for a chat if you have the time!
You Can't Make Friends With Shopkeepers
Merritt explains that merchants in Central Town are too busy to maintain relationships. This means that, while you'll be speaking to them fairly often, there's not a friendship mechanic for them, and they won't appear in your Relationships tab.
Igni over in the Mountain seems to be the exception to this rule.
Unfortunately, this also means that you can't date shopkeepers in any region of Azoria.
