Fable 2 On PC Is Looking More Likely Than Ever

Fable fans have a renewed sense of hope for PC ports of Fable 2 and 3 following Xbox’s recent announcement of PC backwards compatibility.

Earlier this week, Xbox surprised us all (or purposefully planned an exciting bit of news after all the recent layoffs, you decide) by announcing that backwards compatibility was finally coming to PC after years of requests. The initial lineup is a very slim four games from the original Xbox, but it really does open the door for more.

There are tons of Xbox and Xbox 360 games that everyone has been clamouring to see come to PC for a long time now, but none fit the bill quite as much as Fable, which currently only has one single game from the series available on PC. With the recent news, though, fans are hoping that’s about to change.

Why Relist Fable 3 When You Can Just Make It Backwards Compatible?

For those who don’t know, the only Fable game that’s available on PC right now is Fable Anniversary, which is actually the last proper game in the series to release. Fable 2 never came to PC at all, and Fable 3 was briefly available on Steam but eventually delisted and turned into an incredibly rare game whose keys fetch upwards of $250.

With that in mind, Fable fans have been begging for proper PC ports for a very long time. Following the news that Xbox was bringing backwards compatibility to PC, Redditor pelle98 shared a post on the Fable subreddit pointing out that this could finally result in Fable 2 and Fable 3 being available on PC.

Considering Playground’s Fable reboot is set to release early next year, it would be the perfect chance to give fans a way to replay the series.

That being said, not everyone is convinced that backwards compatibility is the way for Fable to be on PC, as some just want a proper port of Fable 2 added to Steam and for Fable 3 to be reactivated. Xbox hasn’t bothered to do this in all the time since both games launched, so I don’t see it happening, but we do at least finally have a shot of Fable 2 and 3 being playable on PC.
