Flame Altar upgrades as essential in Enshrouded. By upgrading, or 'strengthening the flame', you can unlock a variety of new benefits that will help you explore and survive in Embervale. Strengthening the flame takes a lot of materials though, so it can be a long process.

Here, we are going to go over how to fully upgrade your Flame Altar. This will include the required materials for each level, as well as the rewards along the way. It's a good idea to stash these materials ahead of time so you can quickly upgrade your flame once you get the more difficult items.

Enshrouded is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.

How To Make A Flame Altar

Flame Altars are incredibly simple to make; you just need five stone, which can be gathered directly off the ground.

From your crafting inventory, you can build a Flame Altar and then place it down wherever you want. The first altar that you put down will be within the tutorial section of the game. This can serve as your main Flame Altar, but feel free to settle somewhere else.

Do You Need To Upgrade Every Altar?

Thankfully, all the altars work together in terms of the flame's strength. For example, upgrading an altar to level two will apply this to every altar. This means that if you are far from home, you can still strengthen the flame if you are near an altar.

Every Flame Altar Upgrade

Now, let's go over every upgrade you can make for the Flame Altar. In total, your altar can reach level six, which is five separate upgrades.

An un-upgraded flame will have an altar capacity of two, a level one Shroud passage level, no character attribute bonuses, and a total time of five minutes in the Shroud.
