Enshrouded Oil might sound extremely important because the game title, Enshrouded, is in the name. And yes, it truly holds up to its name. The crafting reagent unlocks one of the most useful features in the game on top of other useful items and spells.

There's a list of things you need to unlock, discover, and farm before getting your hands on some. Here are all the details you need to know about how to get Enshrouded Oil in the best way possible.

Enshrouded is still in Early Access. All the information explained in the guide will be subject to change if the game updates in the future. When the game updates, the article will be amended, so feel free to check back in the future for a more updated piece.

Requirements For Crafting Enshrouded Oil

The only way to craft Enshrouded Oil is through the Laboratory. The Laboratory unlocks after finishing the "Scientific Instruments For A Laboratory" quest from the Alchemist. The quest shows you where to go, as it has a marker on the map when you track it.

However, this is a quest chain, meaning multiple steps are required to finish it. You just need to follow all the objectives, and you'll eventually get the Laboratory. Once you have the Laboratory, you also need a Grinding Stone.

At this point in the game, you should already have one from a previous quest, but since you are going to use the Grinding Stones for several crafts, you should create another one.

An extra production of Charcoal will also help you speed things up since you'll be needing a ton of Charcoal, assuming you are also smelting some resources at this point.

How To Craft Enshrouded Oil

After placing your Laboratory at your base, you can choose from a variety of outputs. Look for Enshrouded Oil. Here are the resources needed to start the production:

  • 5x Shroud Spores
  • 5x Coal Powder
  • 5x Shroud Liquid
  • 1x Sulfur

The materials above might be a head-scratcher because of all the needed materials, but it is worth noting that this produces five Enshrouded Oils per craft.

You can find Sulfur scattered around the Kindlewastes or desert biome. Shroud Liquid drops from chopping down mushrooms in any enshrouded area. Grinding Stones produces Coal Powder by grinding up Charcoal. Shroud Spores drop from enemies in the enshrouded area.

Most of these resources are easy to get, especially since most of them drop from low-level areas such as Shroud Liquid and Shroud Spores.

At this point in the mid or endgame, you should try to combine farming these materials with other things you need. For example, if you need Shroud Spores for Enshrouded Oil, you can also try to get some Amber or Ammonia Glands, since some of them are also found in the enshrouded areas.

When you unlock the Laboratory, you'll notice several recipes available. All of them are quite useful, but the crafting times for the Laboratory crafts are quite long, so it might be best to craft yourself another Laboratory.

What Are Enshrouded Oils Used For?

Enshrouded Oil unlocks the following notable items:

  • Ghost Glider
  • Huge Magic Chest
  • Lightning Channel

The Ghost Glider is one of the best, if not the best, gliders in the game. If you are playing with friends, you need several Enshrouded Oils along with the other materials so that everyone can have one.

The glider is awesome, but the Huge Magic Chest is the best thing you'll unlock. If you play around the base and manage all the items and resources, you know keeping everything tidy and organized is hard.

When you have a Huge Magic Chest, you can store a ton of items, but the keyword here is "Magic." Everything you store inside this magic chest will act as if it were in your pockets. For example, if you want to craft some Explosive Arrows, you don't need to have the resources in your person to craft or buy the arrows from the Hunter.

While you can craft other versions of a Magic Chest, having one big storage helps adventurers just dump everything into one place and continue with their next adventure.

For the Lightning Channel, mages would love using this because of the high damage output and low cast time, but you'll have to craft it several times because the spell isn't an eternal spell.
