Elden Ring Nightreign is set to introduce a bunch of new heroes to FromSoftware's epic franchise. Each character will come with their own equipment, weapons, and special abilities, making players' jaunts into The Lands Between and the parties they create with friends wholly unique.

But, with the game now just two days away from launch, Nightreign's trophy list has been shared online, and it reveals that two of the game's pre-built classes will be locked from the start.

Two Of Elden Ring Nightreign's Characters Will Be Locked At The Beginning

In its marketing leading up to the release of Elden Ring Nightreign, FromSoftware revealed an array of characters that players will be able to choose from. Ironeye is described as "an archer with split-second judgement and pinpoint accuracy," while the Guardian is "a character with high defensive capabilities who can use a shield to withstand even the most ferocious enemy attacks."

However, there is bad news for players who had their eyes on the Duchess or Revenant: These two characters won't be available from the get-go. As shown in the Nightreign trophy list, there are two achievements for having The Duchess and The Revenant "join the fray," in which the unlock criteria is for the pair to become playable characters.

The Duchess is a character who is "skilled in evasion and can dodge quickly several consecutive times," and the Recluse is somebody who is skilled in sorcery. This means that if you're looking for a play style that matches these (like I probably will be), you'll have to go through a process to unlock them, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in a time when games often give you everything straight off the bat.

In TheGamer's Elden Ring Nightreign review, in which we scored the game a 9/10, we praised the characterization, saying the game has "some of the most poignant character stories, with intricate personal questlines that evoke Lucatiel and Solaire in the best of ways." It seems like it might be worth going to the extra effort to unlock The Duchess and The Revenant, then.
