One girl you'll encounter is Trysha. She longs to learn magick and practice her skills, but lacks the materials and knowledge to do so. Helping her leads to a quest for grimoires and potential forgeries, but if you have the time, it's worth trying to give her a helping hand.

Where To Find Trysha

There's a small hut nestled in the woods north of Borderwatch. There, you'll find Eini's house, where Trysha lives with her grandparents. When you arrive, they'll discuss Trysha's desire to learn magic, but Eini will shut her down and change the subject.

Speak with Trysha to learn more about her goals. She's determined to practice magick on her own, but she'll need your help to do that.

Where To Find The Grimoires

You won't be able to give Trysha the grimoires while her grandparents are are home.

Thankfully, you can pick them up and throw them out the door to talk to her.

There are five grimoires that Trysha requests, though you only need to bring her three of them. The grimoires can be found in the following locations:

Grimoire Name

Description

Location

Fulminous Shield

Reading it casts the High Thundermine spell.

Purchased from Dudley in Melve for 5,000 gold.

Howling Blizzard

Reading it casts the High Hagol spell.

Found in a chest on the second floor of the Waterfall Cave.

Let There Be Light

Reading it casts the Empyrean spell.

Found in Myrddin's home at Checkpoint Rest Town. Use the second floor balcony to sneak it and take it from the desk.

Nation's Death Knell

Reading it casts the Meteoron spell.

Found in a chest on the second floor of the Waterfall Cave, and inside the Ancient Battleground during the Tolled To Rest quest.

Towering Earth

Reading it casts the High Seism spell.

Given by Waldhar after freeing him in the Vaults.

You'll have to defeat a Wight in the Waterfall Cave to collect the grimoires there.

Should You Give Trysha The Grimoires?

Close

Once you've collected all the grimoires you need, you have a choice before you. You can give Trysha the grimoires and help her harness her magic, or you can keep them for yourself. Depending on how you act, there are different outcomes to the quest.

Give Trysha The Forgeries

If you want to keep the grimoires for yourself, or you don't trust Trysha to use them wisely, you can always give her forgeries of the books. You can make forgeries by visiting Checkpoint Rest Town and paying a sum of gold to Ibrahim.

Ibrahim make a copy of the item in a couple of days and return both the original and forgery to you.

They are almost identical, but the forgery won't possess the same magick capabilities.

If you give Trysha the forgeries, she won't know the difference. She'll thank you and give you her father's Turquoise Ring, sending you on your way.

When you check back in a couple of days, Trysha notes that the grimoires feel off and she hasn't been able to do any magick with them. She assumes it's her fault and that she's not meant to use magick as she hoped.

Trysha will give up her dreams of learning magick, and you'll be rewarded with 2,000XP and 3,000 gold. Congrats on crushing the dreams of a child, Arisen.

One of your pawns may ask if you gave Trysha forgeries, but what's done is done.

Help Trysha Control Her Magick

If you give Trysha the original copies of the grimoires, she'll be grateful. She'll politely send you off with a ring from her father and start her studies right away. Check back in a few days to see how her progress is coming along.

Since the books are used in another quest, The Sorcerer's Appraisal, you may want to give Trysha at least one forgery.

At least two of the books must be originals, however, or she won't be able to learn anything.

When you return to Eini's home a few days later, Trysha's magic is running wild. She's lost control and has started unleashing powerful spells all over the place.

Eini and Eino cry out for your help, and you'll have to dodge Trysha's spells to get to her.

It's best to tell your pawns to wait while you do this, otherwise they may attack Trysha.

When she expends her stamina and her health bar appears over her head, that's your cue. Rush to Trysha and tackle her to the ground. Hold her there until the screen fades to black, at which point Eini will take Trysha inside so she can rest.

Eini will ask you to come back in a few days after Trysha has awakened. When you do, Trysha is well again and is excited to finally be trained properly. You'll be rewarded with 2,000XP and 3,000 gold, along with the Cast Stone staff and Conjurer's Jottings, which will teach you the Meteoron spell.

Speak to Eini after completing the quest to obtain the Enchanter's Almanac, gaining the Mage Maister's approval.

Trysha Loses Control Of Her Magick

If you fail to tackle Trysha, or if you manage to kill her, Eini will cry out in agony and lament over her granddaughter. When you return in a few days, speak with Eini. She'll question if you're the one who gave Trysha the grimoires.

Eini isn't mad, but she explains the reasons behind why they didn't let Trysha near magic. You'll be rewarded with 2,000XP and 3,000 gold. Your pawns may comment on the tragedy and wonder what could have been done to save Trysha, but alas.

Eini may thank you for saving her granddaughter, even though she died.

This seems to be a bug, but your pawns (and everyone else) will react as if Trysha died.

If you fail to save Trysha, you'll miss out on the Mage Maister's approval, so you won't be able to obtain the Enchanter's Almanac.
