Dragon's Dogma 2 does not hold your hand. Sometimes you'll go days exploring the wilderness before you see an inn, forcing you to strategically manage your resources and rest at campsites when possible. Whether you're facing packs of goblins or a minotaur, eventually, you'll die.

PostsThankfully, you can revive on the spot, but only if you have a Wakestone with you. These items are as rare as they are essential, making them some of the most sought-after consumables in the game. Below, we'll take a look at every method for obtaining Wakestones and Wakestone Shards.
How To Get Wakestones
CloseThe primary method for obtaining Wakestones is to combine three Wakestone Shards together into one full Wakestone. You can find Wakestone Shards all over the world, including in treasure chests or as rewards from quests.
The best way to find Wakestone Shards is to use the Dragon's Gaze item. When activated, this item will mark all nearby Wakestone Shards on your map, making it easy to seek out and acquire them. Captain Brant will reward you with the Dragon's Gaze item after you finish The Nameless Village quest.
Dragon's Gaze is reusable, so use it as often as you want. Try using it when you're exploring new areas to gather up Wakestone Shards.
There are also a few wandering merchants you can purchase Wakestones from found around the world. Whenever you see an NPC with a big backpack walking down a road or at an intersection, be sure to check their wares for the chance of a Wakestone.
How To Use Wakestones
Wakestones are used to revive yourself. If your health reaches zero in battle, you will be given the option of consuming a Wakestone to restore your health to full. This includes fully recovering the loss bar.
Additionally, you can use Wakestones to revive dead NPCs. If a quest NPC happens to die in battle, or maybe you killed them yourself, they won't be gone forever. You can either revive them on the spot using a Wakestone, or, if you don't have one handy, their body will be taken to the Vernworth Charnel House or the Battahl Morgue.
If you go to the Charnel House or Morgue after a day or two, you can then spend a Wakestone to return the NPC to life.
