How To Do A 4-Monster Synthesis Combination
For several of the unique synthesis combinations, as well as a handful of non-unique combinations, you'll need to create a specific chain called a four-monster synthesis combination.
A four-monster synthesis combination is created by combining a set of four monsters into any resulting monster while ensuring that the four monsters needed for the monster make up the grandparents of both offspring.
For example, to create a Buntzenburner, you'll need four monsters: a Dancing Flame, a Frostburn, a Soulspawn, and a Brimstone Bulb.
- You can combine the Dancing Flame and the Frostburn together into either a Dancing Flame or a Frostburn.
- Then, you can combine the Soulspawn and the Brimstone Bulb together into any offspring, such as a Cursed Crooner.
- Finally, combine the two resulting monsters together, and you'll end up with a Buntzenburner.

While some are found in regular families like Dragon, most of the unique synthesis combinations in The Dark Prince can be found in the ??? Family.
This family is primarily made up of antagonists from other Dragon Quest games, such as Jasper Unbound and Dhoulmagus, as well as some story-significant supporting characters, like Ramia.
X Rank Unique Synthesis Combinations
All X-Rank unique synthesis combinations have their own unique Talent, which can be further passed on to other monsters regardless of the offspring's rank.
